Diana,
I have never entered Internationals. Thanks for the tip. I will now go look into it.
I also want to figure out how I can wish everyone a Happy Holiday and Happy and Healthy New Year!

I thought I wouldn't be able to see the difference with the 4 degree shift. I like it. I can't see that you slightly darkened the background when I compare your photo and Michael's photo. His looks darker. I like both of them for different reasons. Thanks for your efforts.

Lynne,
What a fascinating story! You did justice to the USMC Knife. I do not find the light spot on the blade that's close to the apple distracting. I might suggest that the light spot on the apple is some what distracting i.e. puts more emphasis on the apple but, as they say -- "It isn't a deal breaker".

Michael,
I took the picture into Lightroom and I have been trying to figure out how to get it back into this area but can't seem to figure it out right now. I used a plug-in removed everything above and around the door and removed the hook and eye on the right hand side. I also removed the line on the right side of the window once you passed the door. It made it so my eyes did not automatically focus on what I felt were distractions. I brightened the walkway a little and tried to see if I couldn't make the signs more readable. As I am looking at it now I see a person coming down the walkway that I missed completely. Anyway, I loved the walkway and all the pipes and shops.Fascinating!

Diana,
What an extraordinary cathedral! I totally agree that the angles leading up to the tower are significant and so is the round tower in between the angles. The part that is a problem for me is the garden or pool in front of the tower. I guess you could call it a leading line, too but ... I think if that wasn't there you could be standing there to take the photo. Perhaps the perspective would better. Again, I am glad you tried and submitted it. I have never been to Liverpool but if I get the opportunity - this is one stop I would make. |

Tom,
Wow! You got my attention. I love the sepia image more than the color. I feel the strength of No. 6 and am not distracted by the trees that surround the train in the original photo.

Stephen,
Personally, I like the monochrome better than the color. I see the expressions on their faces much better and the dance moves stand out more. They are precious and filled with grace and enthusiasm!

Jennifer,
I am not that technically savvy to answer some of your questions. I love the photo in black and white especially with the snow around the borders of the church. The black and white rendition looks more natural to me and I really get a sense of belonging. I look at the trees as protecting the church.
It certainly is the right season for such a beautiful picture.
