Thanks Diana --Thanksgiving is around the corner and I have already gotten requests to bring my camera so I am sure I will be able to try our your suggestions.
Everyone suggested cropping the top bars and after much consideration -- I agree. The point I was trying to make was that here this five year hold was using all his strength to cross from one side to the other, quite a feat, and he was in his glory but cropping achieved the expression which is what was uppermost !!! Thank you Thank you... |

Thanks Lance, Michael and Stephen for your suggestions. They really give me some food for thought as I look at this photo and the other photos I took of Lucas that afternoon. I will definitely go back and take a look at the others in this series. He was showing off his prowess on the jungle gym moving from one side to the next so I did try different settings especially thinking that shutter speed might be the best setting. I did handhold it and my breath too, especially hoping that he wouldn't fall. His mom and dad were there but you might know what it is like to be a grandparent!
I am happy you felt I captured his personality. He is the prince in our family. |

Michael: It looks like a wonderful trip. I have to preface my comments with an admission that my eyes have been bothering me and I may not be seeing as clearly as I should. The original photo looks a little hazy to me. Where were you standing or cruising when you took the photo? Stephen's rendition addressed some of the same issues I had -- I am glad that he cropped out the tree on the right side. I loved seeing the architecture on the left side of the original photo but I am not sure whether you can have both in the photo... I used to belong to a Photo Club where we talked about the "wow" factor-- I don't feel that the Black and White has that "wow" factor because it is coming off on my monitor as too grey! I would love to see you, when you have the time, work on getting that wow factor in this photo because I think it is there... |

I can't really add much to what the others have said. I am trying to work with autumn leaves which I think have some of the same characteristics as the "jumbles" let's see if I can use some of the tips traded here! |

Lynne: At first I thought it was a little too grainy but then I changed my mind. I think it helps to set the mood that you were able to capture. Since you described it as "a building" I wonder if you could have included the entire building. I love the position of the sign in the photo and the reflections -- again it helps to set the mood. |

Wow-- what a view! I am looking at it in a different way -- I see this photo as being a terrific abstract in black and white by removing the trees and changing the shape a little. |
