62 Jun 19 Comment These are really interesting points of view - thank you - I hadn't thought of that incongruity of hardness and softness - feel free to do an edit if you want to. Jun 25th
62 Jun 19 Comment Hi Luann - ok so I really like the original, but that is my own style. When I look at your edit the grain bothers me a bit, but I'm very curious about you saying you love grain! So with that in mind I respond to the sharpness and clear whiteness of the dandelion seeds, perhaps especially as they contrast with the non sharp background. Its almost like the seed heads have floated away and disintegrated into a million tiny atoms. I personally prefer the tall crop you chose, as opposed to the square crop - and I do like the way Oliver has made the darks darker in the background, which brings a bit more contrast to the whites of the dandelion. A beautiful image and for me you have captured the moody feel you were going for. I like the white frame also, its just right. Jun 16th
62 Jun 19 Comment Hi Luann - I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I just love when other people see things I have not seen and I agree fully with your comment about the ear as it appears too bright with not enough detail. Thank you! I'll adjust it and repost to see if it is better, which I am sure it will be.

Yes, Scott is a terrific teacher and I am very fortunate to have learned with him.

62 Jun 19 Comment Hey Thanks Oliver - I really like what you did with her face - so am I allowed to post a variation with her eyes open for comparison or as an improvement ? I probably brightened her face too much - monochrome works a bit differently than colour so I guess that I will come to learn it all! I can't tell you how thankful I am to have some constructive feedback- thank you! Jun 5th
62 Jun 19 Comment Hi Pandula. Wow! This image was the first one that caught my eye so I came here first. There is so much that is great - I especially love the tones you used - to my eye there is a full tonal range. Her skin looks incredible and has been lit perfectly with highlights and shadows to show depth. The furry item she is wearing comes out beautifully in black and white with great texture. I love the softness of the highlights in the hair as the image fades into the dark - chiaroscuro is a favourite type of image for me. Her face is stunning and sharp and again beautifully lit. To my eye I find the eyes appear to have been lightened, or are too light, and don't look natural to me. Its really the only suggestion I could make to improve this stunning image and you may not agree, which is fine of course. The image also looks fantastic in colour. You captured her personality and the softness in her expression so well. Jun 5th
