78 May 22 Reply Much better, I like you've cropped to the edge of the white posts to keep the symmetry, they'll love this.

78 May 22 Reply Thanks Mitch, I like that idea and will revisit it, maybe even enhancing the light/shadow inside.

78 May 22 Reply This is the Gaonkar/Haarmann Gallery. The Tanks, a new space dedicated to live performance art, are the restored oil tanks of the former Bankside Power Station that the Tate Modern now sits. There was nothing inside, just the texture of the tank, so how someone was supposed to perform here is a mystery, the only access was through this door so it would be a minimal audience. This is modern art that the Tate Modern promotes, so as I'm old I don't understand it!

78 May 22 Comment Sorry Mitch but this does nothing for me :(

Stephen has already said mono works because from your crop its about texture and shape, not the actual subject, but I can't see what you were trying to say unless it's about the face that's on it's side?

The original image has a lead in with the water's edge but it doesn't take you anywhere? All I can suggest is to invert and crop to get an 'arty' landscape.

78 May 22 Comment Very peaceful image Jason, and the misty conditions are fundamental to that effect, however I would have liked more rimlight to accentuate the horse. I tried a bit of Dehaze on the background and Vibrance on the hair.

Mitch has already covered the horse facing direction and a simple flip doesn't achieve much as the lovely tree behind is important for the overall softness.

78 May 22 Comment Hi Helen, I'm with Stephen and Mitch that Mono is the right choice for this image but the blur distracts rather than adds.

I would crop the image to focus more on the figure but as Stephen says its good to keep some of the setting, just not too much so as to get the viewer wandering around.

I'm not a fan of strong vignettes so didn't add one, but did darken down the wall and other bright bits on the base.

78 May 22 Comment Super reportage image Sunil.

I put this into Camera Raw and used Dehaze to bring up the figures slightly without losing the dust. I tried B&W (as I'm sure you did) but it doesn't have the same impact.

Nothing else to change.

78 May 22 Comment Great image Jim, I like how you've saturated the sky and the reflection in the water.

I agree with Mitch about the left crop, and the lights left of the palm tree, but would take it a step further and remove the lights completely.

For me the front is too dark so would bring it up just a little to see what is there as it's the border of the image, and gives context to the tree, but not too much so as to stop the eyes going into the lights.

78 May 22 Comment Super image Brenda, you've caught the emotion that is clearly between them, and in the UK that is becoming more important than technical perfection.

Mitch is being really creative here which is good to hear, but I have to disagree with some points. Creating the Heart is an excellent idea, but not at the sacrifice of the separation of the horses, plus I have no problem with the ear crossing the arm. Is you are retaking this then look at showing all of her left arm, maybe even mirroring his?

The crop feels a bit tight, the bottom is fine and the dust at the bottom creates a bit of a vignette to soften the edge, and I looked at cropping wider to the vertical fence posts, and a bit more sky.

I would also think of desaturating all the background a little to bring more focus to the couple, and darken down the fence, but I agree not lightening the horses faces keeps the eye where you want it, on the couple.
