Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
78 Jun 21 Comment I've actually got around to updating some images, so taking on board the comments, keeping all 3 main elements, darkening the background instead of using blur, and keeping some of the pavement below the stairs, here it is.

78 Jun 21 Reply This is all about the rider falling off, that's the story here, so removing the distractions certainly helps, as does the darker shadow. Ask yourself where the eye goes to when you look at the image, is it the rider falling or the bright shirt on the rescue rider?

78 Jun 21 Reply You're right, no longer eligible for Travel or Photojournalism and probably the wrong image for those anyway, so open colour is the best option.

78 Jun 21 Reply I like this Jason, keeping all 3 elements, and the steps straightened. Like Brenda I'd missed the red socks.

78 Jun 21 Reply Most now have been, especially in Bath as they don't have a use any more but are historic. Some of the villages put a 'library' in them where you can leave or take a book at will.

The crop does simplify the image, which now only has 3 elements.

78 Jun 21 Comment As Jason says, a great perspective which makes a great conversation starter. For me it says 'Battlestar Galactica' and one of the Viper launch tubes.

I think I prefer the tones of the original as it seems to be even longer, and this could be accentuated using a bit more darkening the further into the image you go.

78 Jun 21 Comment Hi Jason, most comments have already been made, especially the standing a bit more right to get the full bike in shot, and the removal of the G in Gold.

I'm not sure the addition of another vehicle or furniture would help with the overall composition, but an older bearded guy dressed in character with the bike (I could available if you pay the fare!) would feed the humourous angle.

The whole image is very 'busy' to the point of not knowing what the subject is, so I would consider cropping both left and right, plus Sunil's conversion to monochrome really helps with that.

78 Jun 21 Comment Lovely shot well processed, reminds me of my trip to China with the tower blocks behind the old city views.

I think Jim's suggestion of removing the smaller buildings to emphasise the taller ones works well, and Mitch's suggestion to remove the sign, but don't agree with Jason's crop, I love the feeling of size that the landscape presentation suggests.

One minor point, if you decide to use this in competition, its more of a 'cityscape' than 'street' as street photography usually depict people in their environment.

78 Jun 21 Comment Lovely image Sunil, and your treatment of it is well done. The only suggestion I have is to lighten the top of the steps a bit more to emphasise the move from dark to light.

78 Jun 21 Comment Interesting image Jim, and as Mitch says you have to stop and think about what you are looking at, but I personally like that little bit of cloud that allows us to understand the image.

There is a light 'stroke' in the bottom right third that could be removed to keep the uniformity of the blue.

Have you thought about pushing up the saturation and putting a gradient mask on the saturation layer to fade it away to the left and right, and of course masking off the bridge itself?

78 Jun 21 Comment Hi Brenda, a bit late to the party again but I agree with the comments already made that seem to cover most items. The only suggestion I would make is to add more railing on the right, not less as others suggest, leaving a bit more room for the rider to move into and keeping the original shadow.

Did you use a motor drive for this as there may have been one a bit earlier that would have given separation between the riders?
