78 Sep 20 Reply Thanks Helen and you are right, it does distract once seen. I have now been playing with the Colorize function in PS and what a difference it has made to all the light spillage on the body and floor (the updated image has a floor too, as suggested by Brenda).

78 Sep 20 Comment Pushing the colours certainly lifts this image from an everyday picture to something more exciting with a feeling of warmth and sunshine.

I would look to get some separation between her arms and the trees, so tried levels on her and the dress.

78 Sep 20 Comment The rotation and crop of the image is spot on, and I wouldn't change the lighting either. I agree with Brenda that removing the gates at the end of the bridge would improve to movement through the image, but that's not as easy as saying it.

I copied and flipped a bit of the blue light sky from the right to the left to balance up the dark area above the building. I also removed the light from the left building window, blobbed out the parking sign on the left, and removed some flare on the left of the bridge near the base of the sail, all of which keep the eye going down the middle.

78 Sep 20 Comment Lovely shot Helen, I'm curious how you took it, from a ledge or air balloon?

I tried using Camera Raw filter (yes on a jpg) to reduce highlights, and the adjustment brush to further reduce exposure on the highlights. I then put it in Topaz Adjust AI in HDR mode, and then added a levels layer using the droppers to select black/white/grey points.

I can imaging this image on a gallery wall as you can just keep looking at it.

78 Sep 20 Comment I love this, another great subject well seen and capturing the figure makes it so much better. Apart from maybe including the complete pillar on the right I think the crop is excellent, removing all the unwanted clutter, and I don't think you need any sky as it just takes you out of the image.

You were fortunate to have the water in just the right place to get the reflections as they add another dimension, and I would keep the colour version as it adds a richness to contrast the white clothing of the mosque keeper.

Depending on how you want to use this, I cloned out the signs on the pillars (and reflections) as I wanted to read them and that stopped me looking at the complete image. You could also move the man to the right to balance the image if you so wanted.

78 Sep 20 Comment I see a lot of painterly images and have to admit I'm not their greatest fan, but in this case I think your subject is perfect for this effect. The crop improves it too, removing some of the unnecessary information so we focus on the barn.

Overall I feel the barn is now too bright for a derelict so tried another levels layer on all but the sky, and moved the centre slider right, I didn't try but maybe a bit more contrast too to get the peeling paint to stand out, that is of course if you want it to rather than be a painting. Not sure about the top right aerial, seems too different from the others and draws the eye.

78 Sep 20 Comment Well done for getting such a clear image from a moving boat and with elbows out. The addition of the sky was well chosen and brings a cold mood to the image, and I prefer the blue tint to the mono version as this adds to the coldness.

The hut itself is a little flat, so I added a contrast layer at +50% to give a bit more depth, and masked out the sky as that doesn't need any more.

78 Sep 20 Reply This is the studio setup, with a colleague rather than the model as she was nude for all the 'behind the scenes' shots :)

The setup was to use backdrops on 3 sides to stop the spread (it didn't work totally). For these shots there was 2 strobes with coloured gels positioned behind the model, and a large softbox (top right corner) as the main light, all triggered by radio. Lottii would cover herself in flour as much a possible and the on the count of 3 would flick her hair back.

For other shots a 'helper' would throw the flour from a dustpan or bowl just out of shot (most of the time), the results of course were totally random and no two throws were the same.

Lots of fun and I'm glad I wasn't cleaning up!

78 Sep 20 Reply Thank you Brenda, I've removed her legs and it feels much better, but I don't have any images when she was standing so can't add the body in. I also looked to get the whole arm in, or use another arm from a different shot, but the body shape was just too much work, maybe another day.
