Thanks for all your comments, and I agree with most of them. This was intended as a colour image and the mono was only added as a comparison, however the stairs and grass seem to be the big issues. Jim's crop helps but in reality I now feel it does need to have been taken from the end of the pier, unfortunately the 10 foot fence meant this was impossible.
I think after your comments this will never get used, and I'm unlikely to go up that way again with a ladder, but that's the point in asking for feedback, so thanks again.

For a first try this has excellent timing, I've seen it done with a plastic bag on a hook with a small hole to allow the drips, nothing fancy at all.
I would revisit this with a deeper dof because there is too much out of focus. Also look for a softbox for the lighting as there is a strong shadow to the right and light bouncing off the glass rim, both take the eye from the pin sharp droplet.
Another idea is to use a clear fluid, and put something like a flag to reflect in the droplet. |

An interesting architecture shot with amazing reflections, but it feels like it has been cropped too tight, I would like the last frame and roof angle to be fully included.
The lips are certainly contradictory to the sharp lines of the building, but i'm not sure they add anything, plus if they are included I want them complete. Being boring I would suggest replacing them and the bright white area with a wispy clouded sky, like on the middle right, but that would not be what you wanted to record. |

Excellent image, the expression and eyes on the front two dogs is what nightmares are made of, wow!
I think the driver is essential as it explains what is happening, and the background is not a distraction. Maybe the left hand tree could be lighter in sync with the rest of the background, and yes I'd try to remove the back dog (and all spare legs) |

I like this, a simple image of the car and the advertising board for the same product. Removing the cones was the right choice, and I like the overall feel of early morning that you've created. Maybe you could bring up the exposure just on the car by a stop to show a bit more detail.
There is some lens flare on the corner of the building and the windows have gone unnaturally green, unless there are aliens in Texas :) |

Very pleasing and restful image especially to go on the bedroom wall. Good to see the horizon has been straightened and I like the colour palette, it looks quite natural.
I don't agree with Stephen about having another balloon nearer, I think it would then be more about the balloon rather than the wide panorama that you've captured.
There is what looks like a sensor mark just below the right hand bottom third, which Stephen has interpreted as the moon, so if it is then it needs more definition (or another moon) or just lose it completely as I don't think it adds anything.
The top is a bit bright and draws your eyes that way, but that may be what you want them to do before they close and you drop off to sleep. |
