83 Dec 23 Reply Totally agree. Dec 13th
83 Dec 23 Reply Thanks Michael. That sums it up nicely. I was happy enough with the composition and the way the light picks up the ripples but there is not much appeal beyond that. A viewer could try and create a story but it's pretty well limited to what you see. A woman floating in water. Dec 13th
83 Dec 23 Reply Thanks Adi. No, it's not a square crop. Original micro 4/3 cropped to 3795x2846. My intention was to leave her room to float into. Dec 13th
83 Dec 23 Reply Thanks Lance. I guess it's just the act of being in a place and capturing images of people doing what they do. In this instance, I thought walking upriver just to float back down was quite weird. Not possible to convey that in a photo. So it's definitely not a standalone photo but it may have some value in a photobook along with some text. Dec 13th
83 Dec 23 Comment A fascinating photo Lance. I'm wondering what time of day it was taken because that light is quite brilliant judging how the whole scene is lit up. There is very little shadow. It's almost like lightning illumination. The clouds are interesting and maybe indicate some sort of weather condition? I have never see any like that before. Dec 13th
83 Dec 23 Comment Hi Mark
It sure is difficult to see where the sub-surface begins. Despite my best efforts, I still can't see it. Must be spectacular seeing it but very difficult to photograph.

83 Dec 23 Comment Hi Don - a lovely peaceful scene. I agree with the previous comments about bringing out the subtle details in the background and cropping down. But the depth created by the misty rain is really nice and you wouldn't want to lose that. What an intrepid paddler to have the foresight to bring an umbrella along! Dec 12th
83 Dec 23 Comment The high contrast works really well here Adi. The subject is simple, clean and concise and really pleasing to view because of that. I'm in two minds about the smudgy pattern in the tiles. In a way, it detracts from the distinct black and white nature of the image. But in another sense, it softens the severity of the pure black and white and without it the chairs may look like they are floating. Dec 12th
83 Dec 23 Comment Hello there Michael
I have the benefit of coming into the conversation (very interesting) late and I can say straightaway that the reworked image with the straight line appeals to me more than the original because it brings the focus more clearly onto the two people - or what you can see of them. But apart from that, it's voyeuristic in a sense because you are observing a moment between two people. Because it's street photography you don't have a lot of time for composition but you achieved it anyway and you captured a good story.

83 Dec 23 Comment Hi Debasish
There is something nice about black and white, end-of-life photos of flowers. We normally associate flowers with lots of color but once that has faded, the form changes. The soft edges give way as the flower dries out and the textures and features become more prominent. Here the petals are hanging down exposing the stamens so the original tulip is almost inside out giving us a completely different view of itself. It is almost surreal and I like the way you have achieved the look with focus stacking. It's a beautiful image.
