Yes Jon, this project has been both reflective and enlightening. And as far as photography "fashion" goes, times have changed for the better I think. I'm sure these people were far happier than their expressions suggest. Agree about that little smirk. She must have been a bit of a rebel. |

Thanks Lance. "Looking at stars through a telescope". I like that. And yes, it's as if we scroll back through time, stopping on a particular moment. It's a bit unnerving when you can see yourself in that moment. I didn't say previously but the young woman on the right bears a strong resemblance to me back in the day when I was a chubby 16 year old. |

Lovely image Mike. Nature doesn't really change does it? It's always there in some form or another reminding us of how beautiful the world is if we take the time to see it, and in this case, record it. I love what you have done in converting it to black and white and bring out the detail of the petals and the lovely dew drops. The darkened background makes the flower "pop" beautifully. |

I have never visited the US so all of the images I am seeing and stories I am reading are all new, and it's the second best thing to a real visit. Although I have heard of Greenwich Village, I had to look it up to get a better understanding of your memory. No wonder you remember it so well! Your parents probably took it for granted but for a small boy it would have been very exciting. It's a lovely portrait and your comment about following the artist's instructions reminds me of when we had pencil sketches done of our two kids - about 11 and 9 at the time - in the early70s. The artist did a good job of our 11 year old boy but for some reason he just could not capture our young wayward daughter. She never had a mind to follow instructions. With the explosion of digital imaging, and our obsession with "beauty" these family sketches become even more precious and worth preserving. Although, what's old seems to have a habit of becoming new again so maybe one day ........ |

Lovely photo of your young son Jon and judging by your Bio, you have lots more where that came from! What a treasure trove it must be. I love the look on his face and I can see exactly what you say. His chin is up and he certainly seems anxious to get going. I wonder if he remembers that day? Maybe not at 2 years old. It's a beautifully framed photo with lovely sepia tones and pleasing DOF. I think it was a great decision to preserve your memories on CD. I would be very happy to have such a photo in my collection. |

Hi Debasish - you've certainly created a lovely b&w image from the blue cast original, and brought back some nice memories from the boat trip with your son. Did you get the feeling you would like to do the trip with your son again? And would you do anything different?
I'm not at all familiar with the area so Googled it and found a photo very similar to yours but taken further to the left so that building with the pointy top is on the right. Not sure when the photo was taken but if you could put the two together it would make a pretty good panorama. |
