Hi Victor, I just saw your "Summer Read" photograph on the Showcase page and wanted to congratulate you on it. I love that photograph. I like how you got down low to get the shot with the city and the street in the background. It's a really nice shot. And with all your great pictures, you deserve to be on the Showcase often. Well done! Jim |

That's funny. My wife used to say that I knew the location of every ice cream shop and every bathroom in every city. But these days I have to eat healthier, so I make my own frozen dairy-like dessert out of bananas and fruit (with an occasional cheat at Leopold's in Savannah). But I still know all the bathrooms (the first building on the left has a public bathroom that opens to the street and further up on the left is a hotel with a bathroom in the lobby). That's just essential information for this 74 year old body. I'm glad to hear that your sister likes my image, imperfect as it is. Thanks. |

I'm in agreement with Carol on this one. One of the things I look for in a photograph is something that grabs my emotions and I'm not finding it here. Can I ask what is the story you're trying to tell in this image? |

This is an interesting image and I like the idea you had of capturing the crowd looking up. Personally I think the man walking through is a distraction though and I don't think he adds to the picture at all. Like Carol, I saw the little girl and her presumed mother to be the subjects. It's only in looking at the title that I came to realize the man walking through is the subject. But in my opinion that's a strange subject since he has his back to the camera and he doesn't stand out in the image. My eye goes directly to the little girl who I think you have highlighted quite well. |

Thank you Ed. Actually I like your edit. I agree with your comments about the sky. I need to see if I can do more with the Raw file. Thank you. |

That is the perfect title for this image. I laughed as soon as I saw it. And it's the message that immediately fits her expression and the dog's look at her. I like how you converted it to black and white and cropped it. I think that made the image much stronger. It's interesting that the one lady has a mask on and the other one doesn't. I think you've captured this moment well. |

Overall, I like this image. I think you caught it at just the right angle and location to get the bicyclist positioned at just the right spot in the frame and to have the storefronts and the street creating a leading line into the photograph. I like that you captured him riding in between the two rectangular/squares of light. That was a good capture. In some ways, I find the truck in the background a little distracting. But that's a small point and overall I like this image. |

This is a nice capture. I like the way you caught the action of both the batter and the catcher. That's perfect. I like the contrast of the colors on and around the batter and the catcher. I like that you took out the person walking along the fence and the umpire. By just leaving the batter and the catcher in the image, I think you've made it a more powerful image. The buildings and utilities in the background aren't the most attractive, but they do give it a sense of place. Overall, I think you did an excellent job on this Beverly. |
