80 Sep 20 Reply Thank you Victor. I agree with your comments and edits. It seems like my image keeps getting better and better. Unfortunately, I'm not all that familiar with using Photoshop right now. I'm pretty much a Lightroom editor, but I can see from what you've done that there are advantages to using Photoshop at times. Everyone has been really helpful here. Sep 6th
80 Sep 20 Comment I agree that the impact of this image is the waiter staring at you the photographer from over his mask. It creates an emotion between the waiter and the photographer, and therefore with the viewer.

I like Beverly's crop and I like the color version better. The black & white version looks two dimensional, whereas the color version has more 3 dimensional depth to it.

Overall, I like this image. Well done!

80 Sep 20 Comment I can see what motivated you to take this shot. The idea of this family all lined up together and turned in the same direction while holding their ice cream cones while dispassionately watching something is an interesting story.

What I find most interesting about this scene is the family's passiveness at whatever entertainment is going on (and I'm guessing it's some kind of birthday entertainment that they are most likely watching). I personally would be interested in positioning myself so as to capture more of their faces because it appears that there isn't a lot of emotion being expressed, even by the little girl, and yet they are in a setting where I would expect the entertainment to be more joyous and fun.

I might also, in such a situation, look for a way to capture both their passivity and some glimpse of what the entertainment was. I'm not sure that could be done here. The only possibility I can think of is maybe from the street side of the window. But that probably wouldn't work. It's just something I might think about in this kind of setting.

Another reason I would want to position myself more in front of them is that in the current position, the family forms a leading line coming from the lower lefthand corner of the image, but the leading line doesn't lead to anything. And that bothers me. I always look for a leading line to take my eye to something (even if that something is infinity). But here it just takes my eye straight out of the frame.

All in all, I think there is a good story here. Good eye in seeing that.

80 Sep 20 Comment I really like this image and I really like what Beverly did to increase the vibrance and contrast. The composition and the colors really attract me to this image. It just really works. Nice job! Sep 4th
80 Sep 20 Comment I agree with the others. This is a nice, classic street shot. I wouldn't change anything about it. Sep 4th
80 Sep 20 Reply Thank you Carol. I'm in agreement with you on the rework that Ed and Beverly did on it. I think it makes it pop much more now, and I appreciate the comments and the rework. I'm going to enter this in a street photography competition now and see how it does. Sep 4th
80 Sep 20 Reply Thank you Ed. I'm in agreement too. Sep 3rd
80 Sep 20 Comment I like this shot. The way you've filled the frame provides a real sense of being there and being a part of the dominoes players. And it gives me a sense of warmth with the closeness of others and the friendships portrayed. I think it's an excellent representation of life for men in Little Havana when they're not working.

My only comment for possible improvement is that I find the streak of light in the upper part of the picture to be somewhat distracting to me. You might consider darkening it or even cropping down to remove it.

Overall, I think it's a wonderful picture.
