I like the story here, and I think the composition is right. I think it works well in black and white, and doing a square image feels right to me. I like what Victor did with it too. I think it makes the image stronger. |

This is one of my favorite kinds of images --- the solitary person in a spacious setting. There's just something about that that speaks to me. Your composition is excellent. I definitely like that you put it into black and white. Nice job! |

I love this image. I think what most attracts me to it is the little girl's expression, but I also really like the mime's expression too. I personally like the image better as a black&white image myself. They say that color portraits are about the clothes and black&white portraits are about the people. This is clearly to me an image that is about the people and their expressions. I am not bothered by the left hand being cut off. To me, it's not relevant to the image and it doesn't distract me. However, it would probably be a problem if you were planning to enter it into a competition. Most judges would take off for that I think. |

I like the way this is set up to bring my eye into the photograph and to your subject. To me all parts of the image lead me directly to the subject. I agree with Beverly on the crop. I think the crop still captures the scene itself and a sense of the location. |

This is a really nice image. I wouldn't change anything about it. The composition is nice and I think it has really great clarity. The contrasts are good. But, most of all, the people are interesting. There is such a contrast between him and her. He is standing up straight, looking straight ahead, lightly dressed and squarely holding the umbrella over his head, almost oblivious to the young lady strolling with him. She on the other hand is bundled up and keeping her face to the ground, clearly not comfortable but quietly accepting the situation. I always find shots like that interesting. Good eye in seeing that and capturing it. |

I like this image and what you've done with it. I like the leading lines that bring my eye into the image and I like the way that you've very boldly brought out the colors. Nice job on the sky too. I think that really enhances the image. The composition is well done. I even like the way the three lightpoles on the right side of the image lead my eye over to the building in the background. The Topaz filters you ended up using give the image kind of a magical look to it that I really like.
Nice job!

Thank you Bev. Generally, I like having the background in a street photograph in order to give context to the subject, but in this case I agree with you about blurring it out. Thank you. That is a great suggestion. |
