Thanks Judith! I love seeing your perspectives on photos. I learning from all the members of our group. I've been busy online at the virtual Sue Bryce conference, tomorrow is the last day. Sandra reminded me that my pictures is one of the ones featured in the digital showcase now through Oct 15th. |

Sandra, thanks. I hope to improve visual storytelling, gotta keep practicing. Yikes, I was supposed to let Judith know. I'll do that now. Thank you, my late mother was the inspiration for that image. |

Karl, you went all out for this composite! Love the skeleton partially buried in the mud, it looked like it was on the run course already. It's great that this was an action shot with mud splashing all around and the look of joy in the lady's face. Looks like they were both having fun and I felt like I was in the scene with them. Speaking of that, where was your vantage point? I imagine you were using a long lens. I like how the mannequin's blood was seeping in the water. I'm thinking the mannequin would have been even more realistic if you use the mud as a overlay over it and modify and vary the opacity on it. I'm thinking that the mannequin should have been dirtier.

Hi Lauren, I love dahlias! They make great subjects. I love the gorgeous coloration in this threesome and I spy a bud. The muted background of greens made it easy for the dahlias to come forward. Wow, I like Karl's idea of having this printed on watercolor paper. It would be interesting to see whether it would enhance your brush stroke effect. Lovely. |

Hi May, For me this image looks like overwhelming anguish. While the man's arms aren't in the picture, I could imagine him tearing the tree into two in an effort to move forward to a peaceful scene beyond his reach. Your use of black and white keeps me focused on the subject. Are those ginko leaves to the right? |

Thanks Karl, This was unlike anything I had ever done before. Just as songwriters and other artists sometimes include parts of themselves in their art, this was something I felt needed to be released. |

Hi Judith,
It's been a while since I played around with zoom blurs, man, they're fun! So far, I've mostly done them at night on neon structures using a 6 sec shutter speed (about 2 sec on the subject and then zooming the rest of the time). Your image is the burst of happy colors that we all need during 2020. Viewing your image, I'm reminded that we are surrounded by natural beauty that should be appreciated more than they are. The heavenly scent of flowers draws me close and for a moment my world is made sweeter. |

Hi Sandra,
I like both pictures. I prefer the original picture only because I find the housing-ish structure on top really interesting. I have no idea what any of it is but it looks like something I would have wanted to explore as a child--well actually as an adult too. The rust on the rails seems to indicate that the structure may no longer be in use or has been in use for a long time. It makes me wonder what it is and how it was used and the stories of the people who worked there. I also like the choice of black and white and the aged appearance of the transformed image. Because it's a familiar scene, I prefer your original photo. |

Hi Valerie,
What a great idea! The composited image is much more interesting. I like the warmth it adds to the image and how the mountains look even more majestic. I didn't know what a tussock was so I had to look it up--learned a new word! I really liked the detail of the reflection of the top of the mountain in the water and the gradations of the water in the original picture. I wish those water texture details were preserved in the composite image. The mountain is absolutely gorgeous, but the brightness of the water draws my eyes away from the mountain. Great job in capturing the serenity of the scene. It's a soothing image. |
