79 Sep 19 Comment Hi Sandra,
I love the colors. I didn't initially see the "woman" until Judith pointed her out. Then I thought, what fun that would be to accentuate that part of the photo. Initially, I saw two possibilities for faces until I opened the image to see it bigger. Oh my goodness, it looked like a young Japanese woman. She is wearing a kimono with draped long sleeves (the long kimono sleeves means she's not married). I also liked Judith's idea of using an impressionistic filter on the image so I tried some (along with Topaz Clear to bring out more detail) in the Topaz software and put it back in Photoshop to sharpen the eyes and mouth and darken the distracting spots in her hair. I didn't want to do too much but if it were my jewel of a photo, I would use the patch tool to "close" the opening in her sleeves more and length the left sleeve to match the right sleeve. I am half Japanese and love the Japanese culture and it's probably why I saw her. I love the whole scene, I wouldn't crop it. What a treat in viewing your work!

79 Sep 19 Reply Hi Karl, I prefer the bottom image. Her mouth area (teeth) looked hazy, I didn't realize that was her breath coming out of her mouth until I read your write up. I kind of wished that either the breath were more evident or the teeth sharper.

Ha! The first thing I thought when I saw this image was that I had days just like that, only I doubt that I ever would show the real extent of my frustration in public. We're taught to "conform" to social norms for the most part so it's rare when we see an emotional display of this kind.

The overall "feel" to this image is that it is softened, yet her despair doesn't seem to match with the soft imaging. The scene is calm, the waters are calm. Then again, I suppose that could tell another story in itself. Sometimes people don't show their true emotions. If a person has inner turmoil, that turmoil doesn't necessarily change just because the surroundings have changed. But in this scene, the model is au naturel in nature and she probably feels safe in expressing her true emotions.

There are probably as many interpretations of your image as there are viewers. Best on your exhibit!

79 Sep 19 Reply Hi Karl, Thank you for your comments. The actual original was a bright pink color. I thought about doing black and white, but was playing around with different effects and liked this one that seemed to accentuate the texture of the petals. Sep 9th

79 Sep 19 Reply Thank you for your comments, Susan! I was away at a retreat in Loveland, CO and didn't have wifi. Had my camera though and that made up for it! I love peonies, I didn't know they had bloomed when I went to the park so it was a nice surprise and the beautiful splash of colors gave me a much needed boost. Sep 7th
