Wow, this is beautiful! I like the way the lily pad is showing different shades of variegated colors. Did you get down low to take this picture? I like this perspective as well. It would be nice to see the original. It looks as if there is water filling the pad, but I wasn't sure because I didn't see the glisten of the water. I love reflections and shadows and was wondering whether there was any on the leaf. |

Hi Susan, thank you for your comments and helping me to develop a more critical eye. I'm really enjoying my PSA membership, it's so helpful getting feedback from other photographers. |

Perfect! I was wondering whether that was a butterfly before I read your narrative. You've managed to creatively capture the wing's movement leaving elegant motion trails. This image is beautiful as is, but what do you think of the idea of using more of the lead space in front of the butterfly to suggest movement toward that space filled with beautiful bokeh? |

Hi Susan,
Gorgeous flower and interpretation. I really liked the texture and texture colors, works very well with the flower. Thanks so much for sharing your process. Oooh on Karl's idea of the handmade paper. I didn't know there was such a thing. I looked up the paper and samples of the things printed on the paper. I think your wonderful image would truly be lovely on it. |

Hi Sandra, what an exciting image. I love movement and colors in this picture. I read the previous comments and got an idea from what Karl said about using a camera blur over a sharp image. I love flowers also and want to try that technique with the flowers I'm shooting now. Looking forward to seeing what you do for next month's image. |

Hi Karl, how nice to live so close to a beautiful garden! I haven't seen the night blooming lilies yet, I bet they are amazing. I went to Kamakura, Japan to see the gigantic buddha. I didn't know there were gigantic lotus plants there too. Sadly, there weren't any blossoms when I went, the leaves were unbelievably big. I could only imagine them. Wow, I just googled images. Now, I have to go to photograph them in person! Oh, but the heat and humidity this time of year. I don't know what the tiny adjacent water were, I thought they were some kind of buds that had fallen in the water. I actually liked them because they reminded me of lace. I didn't know how to bring out the "lacy-ness" of them. Yes, busy but I really liked the little bud things, maybe I need to do an image with them and the pads cropped differently without the water lily. |

Thank you so much for your perspective, Judith. I think I might re-do this picture using advanced techniques later. I have to put it away for a little bit and look at it with new eyes. Yes, I noticed that thing, haha! I couldn't figure out what it was but decided to leave it in the picture. There were small frogs in another part of the pond and some were on the lily pads. I took a picture of one of them with the water lily in the background. |

Thanks Valerie, I see what you mean. I like your edit, but I actually wanted the image to have an end of the day darkish feel to it. I may play around with it a little more. It's great to get feedback. |

Hi Valerie,
I'd say you achieved what you set out to do with this photo. I like the addition of the weeds in the foreground, it looks like it belongs there and adds to the overall feeling of the scene without detracting from the subject. The sky is perfect, doing more to it would have changed the mood and story line. Great job! |
