Hi Nancy,
Did you bake the bread? It looks very yummy and crusty, just the way I like it!
When I took a color workshop, I learned that the strongest complements don't have any color components in common. So blue, from a Red-Green-Blue perspective has Blue but no red and green and it's complement orange has Red-Green and no blue. The various proportions of Red and Green yield various shades of orange.
The bread actually has a blue component to it (use the eye dropper in Photoshop), as does the inside of the pan. You might consider replacing the inside color of the pan and use it as a complement. (Changing the bread color would make it look strange.) To my eye, that might make a stronger complementary color image. What do you think? |

Hi Lisa,
This is a wonderful color image! You have the main complement of purple-yellow, but the orange complements the blue shadow I the center circle. Very nice. I like it! |

Hi Carole,
When it comes to complementary colors, the sky and autumn leaves hit is out of the park. What I love about this image is how the wonderful structure of the tree in front has the color backdrop. The tree limbs give an aesthetic balance to the image and the colors make everything pop. Well done! |

Fabulous! I love the composition.
Did you do any sharpening or masking? I ask because I see color noise outlining the bird and each blade of grass. Do you take Raw images? Another explanation could be JPEG artifacts. |

Wonderful photo! Good job on the lighting. You are fortunate to get this opportunity. What's the play? |

Hi Lane,
I'm glad you mentioned this is ice because at first glance, I interpreted the ice as artifacts from masking. My eye wanders and can't find a focal point. I agree with Harley that the branches seem in disarray. Have you tried a version with the bush? |

Thanks for your comments Bruce. I agree about the shadows. I do think something got lost in the downsampling because in LightRoom, I see much more detail than what is showing here. I will work on the shadows because most people these days view images in a web browser and that's the endpoint I need to aim for. |

Thanks for your comments Harley. We also did a photoshoot of Seattle from across the Puget Sound. Both shots require taking many shots. |

Hi Andrew,
I like the sepia treatment. I always enjoy image of musicians. I agree with Lane that the image would be stronger if all the players were in focus and the woman on the right wasn't cut in half.
One workshop I attended suggested f/16 (or higher) for story telling when the area of interest spans from front to back, as this one does. It will keep everything in focus. |
