Thank you for the explanation Leo.
I like that you captured the three helicopters at the same time the fire boats were creating that wonderful fountain of water. You were in the perfect location to get this scene.
I do like that the image has a lot of blue. It complements the orange building on the right and the orange reflection in one of the building on the left. Very nice! |

Hi Leo,
The image is interesting, but I would like to know a little more about your motivation. A title would be helpful. Someone mentioned this is a historical documentary shot, but without a title, it is not possible to know what the event it that you are documenting. Can you explain? The helicopters are flying three different flags. What does each mean? The image is quite blue. Is this intentional? Did you do any special post processing?
I apologize for not knowing what that event would be. I would enjoy learning more. |

Thank you Andrew. Prior to the pandemic, I was a firm believer of capturing the image in the camera and not doing any post processing. But I gradually realized that even the greats like Ansel Adams did quite a bit of post processing in the dark room. So while sequestered at home during the pandemic, I took advantage of all the free post processing workshops and classes that I could. (I even paid for one or two.) While I strive to get it right in the camera, I find it challenging and fun to see what I can do with post processing. Today's AI-powered tools are amazing. |

Hi Lane,
You succeeded in conveying a beautiful, but cold, winter day. The barn is a welcome sight. I would be walking as fast as I could, with the hope I'd find a hot drink in that barn.
You might want to consider making the barn pop a bit more by adjusting shadows. |

Mark...this just in! My husband says the way to get flocks of birds to leave is to take down the bird feeder for a few days. The "flockers" are likely just migrating through. Once they are gone, you should be able to continue feeding the "normal" birds.

Hi Harley,
It is amazing how well capturing image through fences and cables turns out. Very nice capture. I like how you warmed up the lion. It is a very nice portrait shot. You might try cropping in to make a more dramatic portrait, and then possibly adding a small amount of vignette. What do you think? |

Hi Bruce,
What a wonderful winter image! The leading line of the road draws me into the countryside, making me wonder where it leads to. The clouds give me a feeling of impending snow or rain. The placement of the tree is perfect. It has an appealing shape with filigreed branches. Great choice on the monochrome conversion. Very nice.
I look forward to seeing the steam train when the leak is fixed! |

Hi Andrew,
I really like the sepia tone of the flower and the background texture. It gives such a warmth to the image. The masking on the bottom left of the flower is a bit ragged. I've always had a problem with that, so I know how difficult it can be, especially for those parts of an image that are not sharp. I just downloaded Photoshop 2025 and tried out its new AI features to remove and replace backgrounds. I used a rather blah texture and the updated PS Remove Background. You'll see that the masking is much better in PS 2025. There is also an interesting Generate Background feature, but I found the results more amusing than artistic. I think it's best to provide your own texture. If you haven't tried PS 2025, I highly recommend it. |

Hi Mark,
What a fun capture! I like it. That looks like a band-tailed pigeon hovering over a white-crowned sparrow. Is it the pigeons who are flocking to your yard, or starlings?
In any case, it is a humorous image. The unsuspecting sparrow looks as if the pigeon is just about to pounce on it! In reality, that type of pigeon eats acorns. I get flocks of them on my property. |
