Thanks LuAnn, you have given me a lot to think about I like many of your suggested modifications, but I also want to keep the detail in the sky Perhaps a combination of both? |

I like this image too. It leads me to the door. The swings help me image the good times the children would have there. |

Hi LuAnn,
I just showed my husband your photo and he said "SUMIKO!!!" and started drooling. So I would say he is impressed by the cartridge. A moving magnet model???? He has a few cartridges, but his best is Ortofon Black. |

Hi Israel,
You go to the most amazing locations! I love desert images. This is terrific. My only suggestion is to emphasize the motorcycles a bit more. I like that they are traveling to an unknown set of domes. It could be Mars. It could be a secret location! You leave the viewer wondering, which is great. Here is an idea for a tighter crop. What do you think? |

Hi Bob,
I love the composition. I think the BW does a great job of bringing out the droplets. The out-of-focus section in the front bothers me. I used selective processing in Topaz sharpen. I think you'll see where I masked. What do you think? |

Hi Mark,
The iPhone is the best when it comes to tight spaces and glass. I captured many images at Bodie State Historic Park in California that could be taken only through glass. My big camera lens was getting reflections even then put on the glass, but the iPhone did the trick. I can see how it served you well here.
The BW conversion is splendid. Great choice to go with BW as I find the color distracts from the textures. I think Pete's suggestion is worth considering, or at least darkening the foreground a bit to help draw my eye up the stairs. Well done! |

What a nostalgic image! I like the detail in the brick and the varied clouds in the sky. The broken swing tells of a past era.
I'm curious. Did you also capture and image of the front of the building? I'd love to see the door through which the children entered the school. It looks as if they might have to pass through the swing to get in! |

Hi LuAnn,
WOW! My husband is an audio engineer who restores old recordings so that they are a pleasure to listen to. Just last week I helped him design a new business card. He took a photo of his turntable, and I worked a little magic on the image using Photoshop. When I saw your image, I was thrilled to see there are other people obsessed with turntables. :-)
To my eye, the bright background detracts from what I think is the main subject--the cartridge. I took the liberty of playing around with your image. What do you think? |

Hi Pete,
Your BW conversion is wonderful. I like the detail that you brought out, the tighter crop, and the dramatic sky. Well done. I'd love to see the current state of the house with vines. Even though it might be practically covered, perhaps you could make a "time takes its toll" diptych.
While I can see Bob's point about a tighter crop, I appreciate the context that the outbuilding and tree provide. I think it is matter of your personal taste and what you want to communicate to the view. All in all, nicely done! |

Hi Bob,
I was surprised too, because all the other places I went to were more angled or, in the case of the Ross and other ice shelves, tall, flat expanses. This, to me, almost looked out of place. Looking in the other direction, then landscape was more angled. I have no idea what made these amazing mounds. |
