I like what you did LuAnn. I think it gives more depth to the flower. I appreciate that you included all the details. Very instructive. |

Thanks for the comment Israel. About centering the flower, I tend to be an "off-center" photographer unless something is so symmetric that I want to emphasize the symmetry. Flowers can be a great symmetric subject, so thank you for the suggestion. |

Hi LuAnn,
I wish I could suggest something, but I am inexperienced at print. I use a local service--Bay Photo. I have samples of their papers. I typically send out a 5 by 7 for printing and then decide on the basis of that what paper to use for a print that I'll hang on my wall. Sometimes I have a few different 5 by 7 prints made. They aren't that expensive and they help me decide whether I want to spend more for a print to hang. How do you decide on print? Many of my colleagues have their own printers, but my calculations tell me it is far cheaper for me to have a few small prints made and then a larger one. Our local professional printing service is very good.

Hi Israel,
I agree with Pete. This is a stunning image. The light on the church is wonderful and draws my eye. The road leading to the church is quite interesting. I like that the mountains are veiled in clouds. To me, this gives the image an ethereal quality. The image works well in monochrome because it makes the church blend in with the scene, which I really like. Well done! |

Hi Bob,
Sunflowers are always great subjects! Yes, you are shaking the creativity tree again, which always inspires me. This time, to my eye, the look you achieved is not my favorite. For my taste, the contrast and texture is just a bit much. In the tradition of "let's play with someone else's image" I took the liberty to have some fun with your image. SilverEfx Pro and then an effect in Topaz Studio. |

Hi Mark,
Your image looks as if it is a charcoal sketch, which I am enjoying very much. Well done! The only thing I can suggest is a slight crop on the right side to get rid of the concrete line.
Don't apologize for using an iPhone. It is a wonderful camera for just this sort of view. To me, it's all in the post processing. What you did to create the final image is where the magic and artistry happens.

Hi Emil,
What a fun project to photograph silos. I am enjoying your image. Well done. My only suggestion is to consider cropping the grass in the front. To my eye, it doesn't add much to the image, but I do love the various textures from the trees. |

Hi LuAnn,
When I first looked at your photo, I thought it was a wine glass with a flower inside. I think it's because the tulip has a remarkably symmetric shape. I enjoy minimalist photography, so this image speaks to me. Well done! Are you planning to print it? A print would look amazing on a deeply colored wall with a spotlight on the image. |
