Peter, this is a stunning image! You captured the light beautifully. The focus and detail give this landscape so much depth that I can imagine being there. I appreciate that your cloud replacement is with clouds from that same location. I don't know what the sky looked like prior to the replacement, but the replacement adds drama and it is an "honest" replacement. |

Thanks for your comments LuAnn. I think my image has run its course. I now have a lot of very helpful feedback to incorporate into my next images. One thing I must remember is to think before capturing the image and ensure the scene is set up properly to avoid items that need to be removed or remedied with cloning. |

Thanks for the honesty Bob! You are correct--the cropped in image does not make for a portrait, so I wouldn't refer to it as such. He is a good sport. During the lock down phase of the pandemic, I took the PSA History of Photography course. Any assignment that required a person had to be him! |

Thanks for the feedback Stephen. My first instinct was to crop tightly to show just the pattern part of his face. I might experiment with this a bit more. One of the great things about DD is it gives us that chance to try out things and get other ideas! |

Hi Leah, "What is abstract" might be a discussion for our bulletin board! I meant in that your image is impressionistic rather than realistic. |

That's an interesting idea Israel. Because the image was taken outdoors, I hadn't thought of removing all evidence of the outdoors, just the distracting elements. I'm thinking that perhaps I should redo the shot indoors with studio lighting and a backdrop or perhaps clone in more foliage like there is on the left side. Something to think about! Thanks for the suggestion. |

Hi Israel, I love this image! I am fascinated by shots through doors and windows because of the way light falls through the openings. Here you have an opening to an opening, which gives my eye a lot to explore. The backlighting silhouettes the wall nicely and allows me to appreciate the detail in the clouds. Nice job. |

Hi Pete, I agree that the beach needs an element upon which the viewer can focus, so great choice to add the gull. The masking is well done. The bird looks a bit out of proportion to my eye, but I still love this image. I enjoy composites, particularly when they show something from the maker's mind that doesn't necessarily exist in the real world. As long as you can composite images so well, you might even consider adding more elements! |

Hi Emil, What a great subject! I am enjoying the natural lighting and the way it highlights the chair and desk. It makes for an excellent BW image. You did a great job removing the distracting elements yet keeping a few of the background items (like the barrels) as these keep my eye exploring the image. |

Hi Bob, Your $5 resulted in a wonderful image! Money well spent. The close up allows me to appreciate the texture of the peeling paint and rust. I like the way your processing brings out the text. I find it humorous that the name plate includes "truck" as if the fact it is a truck isn't obvious!
Does the #1370 mean there are more than 1,000 vehicles in that museum? |

Hi Leah, I love reflection images. Yours is wonderful.I found that it pulled me in and made me image what the street scene was like. BW works well. Because it is an abstract, I think that the image could just as easily remain in its original rotation. What do you think? Just a possibility because I do think that what you did is quite pleasing. |

Hi LuAnn, I like it! First of all, you chose a very fine head of romaine. I hadn't considering how interesting the stalks and veins are until I looked at your image. Your processing brought out the detail and dimension. Nicely done.
I think there are also many other possibilities with this particular vegetable, such as putting it at angle. |

Hi Lance, I just started studying the history and current practice of making whisky (aka whiskey) so your documentary image of this lab is fascinating. The wide angle view gives me a good sense of size and scope of the operation. I think it was a wise choice. Nice job! |
