62 Aug 21 Comment Hi LuAnn,

I think you chose a great BW subject. I like the texture in the metal and the way you made the gate and chain pop by darkening the background. The crop is good too. Nice job!

I couldn't help but to wonder what the image would look like in some sort of rotation. After experimenting, I came up with this. Then inspired by Bob's work this month, I applied an effect in Topaz. What do you think?

62 Aug 21 Comment Hi Israel,

I like the juxtaposition of the steel and fluffy clouds. Nice composition! I am enjoying the leading line of the bridge going off into the distance. Your decision to convert to monochrome, along with the contrast in the clouds gives the image a definite UK ambience.

As far as whether to level the bridge or the horizon…I prefer a level horizon as you have in your image. To my eye, a tipped horizon is a bit disturbing, as I wonder where the water is going!

It sounds as if you had a terrific trip to Scotland. I hope to get there in the near future!

62 Aug 21 Comment Hi Emil,

You did a great job experimenting! I am enjoying the parallel lines of the fire escape and the "grit" of the windows. The window variations give the image a wonderful texture that works well with the brick imperfections. To my eye, the flipped image looks more natural, so a good call. Good tonal range, too.

Regarding comments about the softness, to me the original looks much softer than the result. Something to investigate.

62 Aug 21 Comment Hi Pete,

What a wonderful grandson to let you mess with his looks! How creative. You've done a good job adjusting his expression without making the end result look fake. The lighting and vignetting is superb.

To me, he looks a little too friendly to be a warlock. Perhaps there is no way to erase his underlying natural charm? I think of this image as more as an old time peddler, and a pleasant one at that! Perhaps consider a new title?

62 Aug 21 Comment Hi Leah,

I think you made a good choice to convert this to sepia. It does work well. You have a wonderful capture and good composition. What an interesting concept to recycle building parts to make a work of art.

Emil's suggestion of adding some light to the image makes the sculpture seem, to me, to be more 3D. I think there is something to explore there.

62 Aug 21 Comment Hi Bob,
I love it! It's very creative and I am enjoying exploring all the swirls. Your processing givse an effect similar to what you can do in Photoshop, but the tool you use doesn't matter. It is the end result that is important. To my eye, your original photo has an anteater look to it. I think you could also make something out of the image along those lines. What fun!

62 Aug 21 Reply Thanks Bob! I did ask the park personnel if they would consider cleaning the inside of the glass, but they said no. The buildings may not be as stable as they look. Aug 10th
62 Aug 21 Reply Thanks Emil. I resisted using a phone for photography, but I couldn't resist the low light capability of the latest model. Aug 3rd
62 Aug 21 Reply Thanks for the kind words Pete. I might just print this one. Before Covid, I used to print two images a month for our local camera club competition. I love print! I need to get back to it. Aug 3rd
