I like the edit Piers made - I like the flags as it gives a sense of how windy it was (or is?) at Mt. Rushmore and gives a unique perspective. But removing that one flag crossing Washington's face and adding some cloud coverage adds to the story. |

Funny you mention the cars. When I went down there, I was thinking "we're in lockdown, there will be no cars" forgetting that is an apartment building... |

Last time I was at the Grand Canyon, I was photographing with a 110. I remember how each day there was a rain shower for maybe an hour and there was sometimes just a dark gray line of rain obscuring part of the canyon while the sun shone on the other side.
This image brought back that memory. I love how the clouds frame the canyon and your edits have brought the colors out beautifully. My only negative is my eye kept getting drawn to the right with the leaves being a bit bright, but I think a little darkening there would solve the issue. |

This is lovely. I like how the trunk of the tree and lower branches frame the woodpecker. Perfect crop in my opinion. |

This does look like something out of a fairy land. I like these edits, I think it looks a bit like it was painted. |

I love old cemeteries and graveyards.
I think removing the damage takes from the age of the stones; I rather like how they appear in the original image, but am not sure how those would look with the edits to the houses, which I like. |

We're about to remodel our bathroom and now I'm a wee bit more nervous about what under the tile and linoleum than I was 10 minutes ago.
I did not think it was a centipede when I saw it, just want to point that out. ;-) It looked to me like the roots of a plant...a cactus, huh? Proof that nature wants to reclaim its space? |

Hi Stephen,
I'm attaching the original - I usually do that when I submit my image - not sure why I didn't this time. But, I digress...
I did crop it and make a few minor edits to it.
I do plan to go out and shoot more of the mill and will definitely move around more and find some other angels to shoot. |

Hi Martin,
I have an few images shot earlier in the day, at noon, but not the full length of the building. The sun doesn't hit the building really until evening...and I definitely want to get back out there to shoot some more. I'm attaching an image from my noon-time shoot the day before the one I posted was taken.
I did not take pictures of other mills, but there are many I could choose from. These are in Lowell, Massachusetts. |

The course is Photography Instruction under the education section of the member area. It's been a really great learning experience.
I don't think increasing the red would take from the authenticity of the building at all. I appreciate the suggestion. |

The Mom in me instantly went "Where are their shin guards???"
This is definitely a group of kids playing for the love of a game and enjoying themselves. |

I like the story here, Diane. I agree with Gerald's edit to portrait - it eliminated some dead space. |

Thank you for going against the grain. I appreciate everyone's opinions as it helps my eye for editing get better.
It would be a fun poster, wouldn't it? |

Hans, This is a great shot. I didn't realize there was a German Football League, so it is educational from my perspective - when I first saw the image and Sean Richard's shirt, I was actually confused. :-)
Nice job lightening his face so we can see his expression. |

Welcome to the group, Dan! And thank you for your feedback. While I've been taking pictures forever, it was only a year ago that I completed my first course in digital photography and started to master my camera. So this picture is from the beginning of the journey to challenging myself to be a better photographer (man do I miss soccer right now!). I honestly didn't even notice the wheel until you mentioned it - probably because it's my photo and I have stared at this picture so much. But now that I see it, I agree. It's distracting. Something for me to remember when I finally decide to enter competitions. |
