2 May 20 Comment This door makes me want to go on an adventure! I like the edits you made and the colors look very inviting. May 12th
2 May 20 Reply Thank you, Piers. I haven't tried a feathered brush yet, though I used the burn in lightroom (either you or Harry made that suggestion for my last photo submission) for another image I had considered postinng. May 12th
2 May 20 Reply Thanks, Karen. I will have to try that filter! May 12th
2 May 20 Reply Funny you ask about the model release...I did have him sign one though part of me was like "I birthed him, he has no say!" ;-)

He knew I was taking the picture, he was just ignoring me entirely, which worked out well!

2 May 20 Reply Thanks, Martin. I like the edit suggestions, too. May 8th
2 May 20 Comment This is a fabulous photo, Martin. My initial reaction was that you had a former athlete, who spent too much time in a tanning bed, in a gym that needed a serious paintjob - it was her shirt as it is similar to shirts I wear when I'm running or at the gym - and I really was just focused on her, not her surroundings.

Then I read your description.

I think you've done a good job of bringing out her features. She definitely looks like someone who has been out in the sun a lot. Her eyes look defiant, though...almost like she's daring us to judge her.

2 May 20 Comment Beautiful image. Martin's edits are really nice, too. I could see this taking a place on my wall. May 7th
2 May 20 Comment The colors on this are gorgeous. I'm guessing "painterly" is an option from one of the software programs? Whatever the case, it looks like morning mist encircling the posts of the bridge. The figure on the bridge definitely appears to be contemplating something. May 7th
2 May 20 Reply Thank you, Harry. Extending the sleeve makes sense with the crop - and I like the crop, too (maybe I'm biased since it draws more focus to my son's handsome face). May 7th

59 May 20 Reply duly noted! May 8th
59 May 20 Reply Thank you, Diane. I actually plopped myself into one of the few spots on that field that brought me close to the action without getting yelled at by the ref. But I agree...I will work on finding new spots.

I almost posted a photo of some of the girls playing Leap Frog while the coach was giving a half-time speech...maybe next month. :-)

59 May 20 Comment You use the same lense I use and now I want to try capturing surfers. Great shot! May 8th
59 May 20 Comment I like this image, but would crop it a bit more, I think. May 8th
59 May 20 Comment My soccer-playing 11-year-old daughter is looking at this image over my shoulder...maybe it will give her some inspiration to keep up with her conditioning during this time of confinement.

This is a fabulous shot. Love the hair flying, the tongue sticking out, the turf coming up from behind the ball. Great action.

59 May 20 Comment This image brought a smile to my face. I was hoping to add Little League Baseball to my repertoire this spring...I like the simplicity of this image. May 8th
59 May 20 Comment Phil, great shot. I concur with everyone on the crop suggestion, but love the story this image tells. May 8th
59 May 20 Comment Great shot! And congratulations on the award. That's fantastic! May 8th
59 May 20 Reply Thank you, Hans. That field is a challenge as its set down a small hill, therefore the spectators are uptop and the cars are uptop and oh, indoor soccer and basketball are housed in the building uptop. And all three of those things show in this image.

59 May 20 Reply Thank you, Karl.

I pulled this from my archives from last year when I was still figuring out camera settings. When I look back at them now, I cringe (because I know it's not the best setting), but know if I use an image in this group I will definitely get some good advice for improving for the next time I get to sit on the sidelines. So thank you!

59 May 20 Reply Hi Bruce,

Your crop leads me to ask the question "what size is appropriate for competitions?"
