1 Jan 20 Comment This caught my eye as I was scrolling through the thumbnails. What a fantastic photo! I agree with David - the crop could be tighter, and that would really draw the eye to the wings on that male. What a great shot! Jan 20th

2 Jan 20 Reply Thank you for all of this feedback and explanation, I like your comparison to the BIF, that makes sense. Jan 23rd
2 Jan 20 Reply Thanks, Harry! Jan 23rd
2 Jan 20 Reply Be as ruthless as you need, Piers. I won't get better if I don't hear it :-) It was a great game and we should have won, but the ref called a bad goal and it went into overtime and then a shoot out and the other team won in the shootout. Jan 20th
2 Jan 20 Reply Thank you, Dan! Jan 13th

2 Jan 20 Comment So many things to like about this image. The lights, the funky piano, the flash of read on the pianist's sleeve...nicely done. Jan 10th
2 Jan 20 Comment Welcome, Martin!

I love this shot - it's haunting. It definitely looks better as black & white. The cropping is fantastic - my eye just runs the length of the building.

Very interesting history, too!

2 Jan 20 Comment Beautiful picture. The crop is excellent and I like how the ribs of the parasol radiate around her head. Jan 7th
2 Jan 20 Comment When I first looked, I thought there was snow!

I like the lines on this and the adjustments you made to the color make the cotton stand out quite well.

2 Jan 20 Comment Not bad for sneaking a photo!

The cropping is great, my only disappointment is that the guy in red is out of focus; I think that is the only thing that stands out to me as a negative. Other than that, I think this is a great shot.

2 Jan 20 Reply I cringe with every header I see - but love capturing the players faces.

And I agree that the crop Martin has tells more of the story. Duly noted for next time.

Thanks for the feedback!

2 Jan 20 Reply I cannot disagree - I like your crop better! Thank you for the suggestion! Jan 6th

59 Jan 20 Reply Thank you, Diane. I've actually made that comment to my husband...that I need to be closer to the ground, so he bought me a blanket with a waterproof bottom so I can sit, kneel, lay-down, whatever, to get better shots. Now, to put said blanket to use...

I appreciate your feedback and validation for what I'd been feeling I should do!

59 Jan 20 Reply Thank you for the feedback, Bruce. I appreciate it! I also appreciate the advice on backgrounds, that is very helpful. Jan 14th
59 Jan 20 Reply I am so happy to be able to learn from other sports photographers. Thank you for your crop suggestions. I see what you are saying and will keep that in mind in the future. Jan 10th
59 Jan 20 Comment I like the second image better with the face showing and the surfboard flipping out more, although I think they are both really fabulous. I don't know anything about exhibits yet, so I can't answer your question on which would be better. Jan 9th
59 Jan 20 Comment I don't know much about rugby, but I do know if I was the player catching the ball with that guy coming at me, I would turn and run. He looks ready to launch himself at #1.

There is a good story here.

59 Jan 20 Comment Here's a sport I know well! Did she get a card? I thought the ball was between the Benson player's legs, but then realized it was turf/dirt.

Great crop.

59 Jan 20 Comment This is an incredible shot. You captured the boy's expression perfectly and I'd say you succeeded in capturing the flavor of the small town rodeo. Jan 9th
59 Jan 20 Comment I'm guessing the puck landed between the goalie's pads, judging by the direction the players are looking. I can see the story here. Nice shot. Jan 9th
59 Jan 20 Comment I don't know much about rodeos and have never attended one, but this is a really cool shot. The dirt is flying, you can see the rider looking for her next move - great action shot. I like the crop, too. Jan 9th
