Jack, This is a good choice for a monochrome as the colored version would introduce points of competition for the motor bike riders. Your choice of shutter speed enabled you to freeze the action completely even though I assume they were going pretty fast. Thanks for showing us this view of Vietnam. |

Adrian,
You captured this wonderful ceiling very well and by presenting it perfectly symmetrical adds to the quality of the image. I am impressed that you hand held this shot. (I did some like this too but put my camera on the ground but I need a few adjustments to get things aligned properly.) I enjoy seeing all the detail and patterns and being able to take my time to take it all in which can be hard to do when you are walking in the church. Thanks for sharing.

Ed, This is an excellent choice for a study in textures and I especially like how the horizontals of the wood are captured. I agree that some of the lichen is not as sharp which I think detracts a little especially since it is in the center of the image. The choice of framing and sepia toning are both good choices for this image and work well. Thanks for sharing this one. |

Don, This is a nice capture of this beautiful snowy egret and I like how the black background brings out the egret in a dramatic way. The eye is sharp and there is nice detail in its feathers. For me what I like the most is how intelligent it appears as if it is contemplating something important. Thanks for sharing this one. |

Jen, I like your choice of placing the horizon low in the frame to emphasize the beautiful sky with the clouds providing an interesting patterns. The high cirrus clouds coming from the top corners are placed perfectly for leading my focus right to the center of the image and the tops of the sunflower add additional details that I enjoy. Nice job. |

Is your camera converted to 830 nm or can you use other filters on the lens? |

Palli, This tree has an interesting character and I like how you were able to make it stand out from the brush. I think the filter that was used is effective although in my opinion the "unfiltered" image works well too. The border adds a nice touch but I would suggest reducing the amount of white around the edge, especially at the lower left corner. What type of filter did you use for this image? Thanks for sharing it. |

Gary, Your processing has worked very well to add a dramatic mood to this scene. The framing of the old barn and the lighting in the foreground work in that they draw my eye to the main subject. I also like how there is enough detail in the leaves and for me the blurring effect helps to give them a delicate feel. Can you add what camera settings were used and what filter? Thanks for sharing this one. |

Charles,
You've created a tranquil scene and the light blue tone adds to a peaceful feel. It would be interesting to see this scene with people when it is safe to do so… I am wondering what filter you used for this image?

Jack, This is quite a different image than I normally see from you and it definitely piqued my interest. The composition is held together by the handle of the shovel and there is detail on both the top and bottom of the image. For me I wish the shovel was sharp throughout to help it stand out more visually. Was this taken with a 720 nm filter? |

Melanie,
I like the composition with the tire tracks leading into the image. I also think the lighting works well in that the women are placed in the brightest area of the image so it is clear where my attention should go. This is nice illustration of how IR can also be a tool for photojournalism under bright day light conditions to make an effective image. Thanks for sharing this one. What filter was used for this image?

Emil, This is a nice scene and it is great that you were able to keep the sailboats separated. I also like how it is so sharp that I can see the faces of the first two boaters. I think cropping to a portrait format would add emphasis to the boaters and there would still be enough of the beautiful sky for the mood. Was this a 720 nm filter? Thanks for sharing this one. |

Thank you Gary for your comments and yes, I think adjusting the levels such as you did makes it better by making it more alive. |
