Here is what I had in mind for the level of contrast. |

I prefer it without the vignette. |

I think my curiosity about this image would be stimulated by a title that indicated that it is an aerial shot, something like "A Drone's View" or "Aerial Park". Without some clue that this is an aerial view, I suspect that many, like me, would pass over this image without ever figuring out what it is. |

With respect to color saturation, I like your original more than any of the others. Your comments don't change the fact that nothing in the image suggests that the train is moving. Therefore, I still feel that the right-to-left orientation is better, and still better would be something that causes the train to be still. By the way, a locomotive at rest would have to discharge steam from the steam dome. If you want to indicate that the train is in motion, eliminate the second and third plumes of smoke-steam, and angle the primary plume back over the train instead of having three plumes rise vertically. Finally, a little blur of the locomotive's wheels (I think some programs call it radial blur, but technically, it is tangential blur.) would also be consistent with movement of the train. |

Now your image perplexes me even more. Unless the train and the wind are moving at exactly the same speed, I don't see how the smoke could rise straight up. Is the smoke in the image something that you added later? In your image it looks like smoke is coming not only from the smokestack but something else. Did you add the second plume to represent steam? If so, it would be more correct to have it come from the steam dome. Because of the smoke-steam and the absence of tangential blurring of the spokes on the wheels, this image gives every indication of the train being at rest. Either at rest or moving, I like the silhouette and the orange-black combination. |

I agree that vignetting would help this image. Thank you. |

I like the perspective and the unexpected "gate" near the far end. I also like your decision to remove all texture from the snow, making the image more abstract, and yet, it remains understandable. I think I would like it more if the row of stones were even further from the image's borders. |

It is interesting to see images from a barely active volcano. Images one and three are quite similar. Perhaps you have one that is more different? Yes, black and white seems most appropriate for this. I'd like it even more if it were quite a bit more contrasty. |

This image made me look carefully and think and wonder whether it is abstract or something natural I'd suggest leaving the people because they provide a clue that this is an aerial view and not an abstract or something like a branch of vegetation. I agree that increased local contrast likely would increase the interest of this image. |

My thoughts mirror Brenda's and Jean's. Consider cropping some off the bottom. |

Very interesting. I loke the croping and the texture in the texture in the mesquite branches. I agree that the cropped version is a little cramped on the left and I'd like it more if there were a little more space there. Judicious cloning could also be used to allow the mesquuite to be positioned further from the left edge. |

It is a very striking silhouette. The orange and black go well together. I'd like it a little more if the orange were less saturated. As Brenda commented above, I am an advocate of left to right movement. In this case, however, I prefer Brenda's orientation because the smoke and steam show that the train is not moving. When oriented left-to-right, fact that the train is not moving at all seems unnatural.
Aside from the orientation issue, this image shows a train that is absolutely still, but no reason for it's not moving. I'd like it a little more if there were some reason for not moving--a water tower to replenish the boiler, part of a station for which the train had to stop, or a person in front, possibly with a flag. |
