My comment referred to the optics, not the esthetics. |

When focussed on a subject, I thought the depth of acceptable focus behind the subject was greater than the depth of acceptable focus in front of the subject. |

Oh, darn, I missed something in your revision. As I commented earlier, the subject, composition, colors, and luminosities are all just great. What I failed to notice in the revision is that the brush in front of the tee pee is casting a shadow on the tee pee. To give a stronger impression of realism, it would have been better to have had your illumination source rather close to the camera so that the shadows that indicate that you illuminated the scene whould have been behind the brush and invisible in the image. |

Thank you for your kinds words on this. I've been a bit uncertain as to its esthetic quality. |

Those are helpful thoughts on focus. Thank you. |

Yes, Ed's idea of taking the foreground image in the middle of the eclipse sounds like a good compromise for more realistic shadows. |

I like the closer cropping that reduces the negative effect of the out of focus sage brush. Its color and the colors of the horses are more natural now. You might be amazed at the high quality of images you can make with the R% using an ISO of 2,000 or more. Using a high ISO would have allowed you to use a much smaller aperture, which would have increased the depth of field... |

I favor photographs that look like they have not been extensively maniipulate or built from disparate shots put together in editing. Therefore, when I look at your marvelous series of shots of the sun and moon and the interesting house, I would like to feel that the image was generated by repeatedly shooting both the house and sun-moon, hence my desire that the shadows be combined. I realize that this is impossible because of the luminosity differences. Since a composite is required, consider taking two exposures at each time, one with settings appropriate for the sun, and one with settings appropriate for the house. Then generate a composite of the sun-moon, and a composite of the house (which will have the shadows I'm seeking), and then combine these two composites. |

Very nice processing. I like that the colors of the stars has been retained and that the foreground subject is interesting. I'd like this more if the teepee and tree were considerably darker and more in keeping with the degree of darkness necessary to see the Milky Way and with the very dark land behind the teepee. |

I like the silhouette. I think you could also have included the cactus on the far left in the original. I would like this much more if the original sky had been retained. It looks like there is a forest fire in the background, but this is inconsistent with the action of the figures and also with the fact that the silhouette looks like a desert and not a forest. |

The colors are nice and bright and the processing was great. I wish that the fuel droplets were more conspicuous. I agree with your thoughts on the composition. |

It is an interesting and dramatic composition.
Next time it would be good to pay attention to the shadows. In this image the shadows do not correspond to the position of the sun, and they are not blurred out as they would be if the house were exposed in the same way as the eclipse. |

I like the composition and the colors. It is very nicely balanced. The depth of the cranes and ship draws me in. It is a pity that there weren't a few clouds in the sky. |

I like seeing the horses surrounded by sagebrush and that they clearly are in the wild. I like the idea of brightening the horses. I'd like it more if the brightening were were not quite so emphatic. |
