I like the colors, the lighting, and the subject. Having done a lot of focus stacking lately, I'm acutely aware of depth of field and sharpness. The nearest and furthest parts of the subject become a little soft. This doesn't really harm the image at all as I quickly become engrossed in the interesting pattern and contemplate on how it was generated. |

I was hoping that you might find one viewer's take on your image to be useful, even if you profoundly disagree. No matter, I'm done. |

This is just really nice. I'd have been tempted to call it "Evil Eye". I like the choice of lens and aperture. The depth of field seems just right for the subject. |

I love the subject and that you have caught both birds looking in the same direction. The cropping feels just right, and I like it as well. On my monitor the color of the sky seems a little too far towards green. |

I very much like the red and the blue colors. I'd like it more if the blurring were more realistic and confined to the propeller. For an early morning takeoff, the main light source (sun) is awfully high in the sky (also not possible in Alaska). I'd also like it more if the pontoons looked like they had just left the water. |

I like the idea, subject, and composition. I'd like it more if the stairs weren't hitting her. It seems that the sky is blown, which doesn't bother me, but the blacks in the back of the woman's coat are so dark that no details can be brought out. I'd prefer that the back of her coat not be a dead zone. Possibly an HDR treatment could have helped here. I also like the image more when I've brought up the contrast to give the image some snap. As posted, the original seems somewhat muddy. |

I am curious how you took this, high ISO and small aperture and from an appreciable distance? |

Yes, the subtle color variations are interesting and I can understand how many people would prefer the color version. What happens with me is that my eyes move in the direction the elephant is looking, and in the color version, right there are the fairly bright green leaves that then hold my attention. To avoid this problem, I converted to monochrome in a way that deemphasized the green leaves. I also had something of a problem with the featureless golden fringe areas on the edge of the ear. Monochrome deemphasized this aspect as well. Finally, I was intrigued by the wrinkles in the skin, which could be emphasized in B&W, but not so easily in color. |

Very nice idea, nice colors, and nice lighting. The depth of field might have been a little shallow. |

Really nice. I like the composition, the colors, the sharpness, and the blurred background. I don't see anything that I would change. |

I came back to this after a few days, and with fresh eyes, found that I liked it more after removing the two light sticks hitting the trunk. |

As I understand the technology, useable ISO values have gone up in the past five years primarily because of software advances. Could you describe the software that you used to get to the image that you posted?
As for the image itself, I found that I preferred a B&W version of your shot and since I like to see action moving to the right, I reversed your image as well. |

This certainly produces a nice wintery feel. The trees, fence, and mountains all combine to nicely direct our attention to the bright, open area of the sky. I wish there were a little more detail in what like ski runs in the hills on the opposite side of the lake. |
