I think you have explained why I also found the lighting to be unnatural. Thank you. |

Often subjects like flowers feel most natural when pointed to the right. For this rose, the feeling is weaker than for many flowers. Nonetheless, I did make it face to the right and I liked it a bit more as a result. As pointed out by Dorinda, the rose is very close to being blown. I dialed back the brightness and as a result more detail became visible near the center of the rose. |

I appreciate the problems of scenes that don't quite fit whatever lens is available and the impossibility of going back and shooting again. With respect to the distortions, they could well be the result of aging of the building. The leftmost window slightly tips to the right while the rear of that wall seems vertical. The top of the fence is horizontal, but the ceiling is not. With respect to the need for HDR, here is my slightly edited version of your original on-meter shot. HDR might have brought out more detail in the background, but I think the image is better as you have it since it doesn't distract from the real subject. |

Does swing span mean that the bridge rotates about the central pier? The shooting position gives the bridge a nice perspective view. I'd have liked it even more if this side of the bridge were in direct sunlight. |

I like the perspective with the statues and the lanterns and then the palms near the vanishing point. I also like the way the colors complement one another. I would like the image more if HDR had not been used as the wall on the left and the ceiling are unnaturally bright, making me feel that the image is somewhat surreal. I'd also like the image more if there had been a bit more of the columns on the right. Finally, although this does not affect my liking of the image, careful examination of the multiple vertical and horizontal lines reveals some curious distortions. It is as though the camera was pointed slightly up or down, the lens has some barrel or pincushion distortion, and perhaps a distortion correction was applied post. |

What a lot of nice components, and in a nice composition as well. Yes, those diagonal wires are not a plus, but removing them might be hard. I am undecided about "Fresh Pizza". |

I looked more closely at your redo. In it, the heads are intact. It is really a nice action photo. |

Great Autumn colors, nice vignetting, and an interesting subject. It feels slightly more natural to me after inverting so that more leaves are on the bottom of the stump than on the top. |

The addition of space on the right that includes the helpless defender adds a lot to this image. It is not the focus of those poor spectators, it is the missing tops of their heads. Just a little work in post may be able to fix this. |

Reducing saturation of white generates grey, which to me doesn't look so nice in this image. I can try shooting more of the needles with water drops and see if next time around I can get those white spots to be sharp. |

What a nice two-for-one, bridge and water falls. I particularly like effect of the 1/10 second exposure. It removes the detail in the falls but doesn't generate the greatly overused smooth vail of a 20 second exposure. |

The reason I didn't just use a small aperture is that I wanted the background to be very blurred so that it did not distract from the subject. Thus, I used the largest aperture that I could, f/2.8, and used just those images for stacking that had the cluster of needles and drops in focus. Sometimes I have to go back and further blur the background, but this approach gives me a good start and sometimes is sufficient. |

In retrospect, maybe I should have said drastically cropped. Here is the slightly modified original before cropping. |

Very nice action shot. Can anything be done in post for that row of poor spectators missing the tops of their heads? |

Thank you both for your comments. With respect to removing the white spots: that would be more of a modification than I am willing to make as my photographic objective is to find interesting and beautiful images in what is around me rather than to construct such images. |

It is an interesting juxtaposition of the fountains and the sculpture. At first it seems like a slightly different angle would have been better, but shooting from anywhere else would have destroyed the superposition. I think it would be worth the effort to clone in a little sky, clouds, and fountain across the top so that the fountain did not hit and go beyond the top edge of the edited image. |
