30 Feb 21 Reply Thank you all for your comments. After a month of thinking about everyone's comments, I've come to favor making the background totally black. Feb 27th
30 Feb 21 Comment Dorinda's sky is beautiful, but it is now competing with the interesting landscape. A sky with a cloud or hint of a cloud might be more compatible with the rest of the image. Feb 17th
30 Feb 21 Reply I can find no blown pixels in either the original from which the posted jpg is derived or in the posted jpg. In fact, the final step in my processing was to reduce luminosity by 20%. Since you are seeing the image as having blown areas and it seems too contrasty to you, possibly your monitor is set too bright? There are some online sites that you can use to make a quick check. 30 Feb 21 Reply Thank you for your comments. I've vacillated on whether or not to retain those background Vinca leaves. I suspect the pixels that you are seeing are a jpg artifact, as I don't see them on a reasonable sized print or on screen. The original file is ~5,000 x 8,000 pixels. Feb 9th
30 Feb 21 Comment Very nice cloud formation and colors. The pattern in the waves also adds a lot. As with last month's image, I wish that the sun and its reflection were not so blown. Feb 7th
30 Feb 21 Comment Just the thing for winter. It is nice and bright. I think that your hardware-software combination worked very well. The flower was so attractive that I didn't sense the background until I read Jessica's comments. To me it is OK as it sort of matches the petals and the flower itself captures and retains my interest. If you can blur the background a little bit, perhaps it is possible to blur it more, or if the blurring damages the flower, perhaps try darkening it a bit? Feb 5th
30 Feb 21 Comment The boat, sand, and dry grass are all very nice. Here is a crop that emphasizes the boat, removes some of the less important parts of the picture, and slightly changes the color of the sky. Feb 3rd
30 Feb 21 Comment I very much like the scene and the feeling that it invokes. Yes, the sky color is a bit off and I would like it to be more blue. To me, that expanse of featureless sky needs either some clouds or some cropping. To me the picture would have been nicer if it had been possible to shoot it from a point further to the right, and possibly also closer to the tree so as to move the lovely tree closer to the house and a little larger. 30 Feb 21 Comment It is an interesting collection of objects and a nice arrangement. I'd like it better if the lantern were larger and the more distant glass of tea were smaller as well as the water drops on the glass. Feb 1st
30 Feb 21 Comment Cataracts--ugh. You have my sympathies. I like the lighting a lot as well as the colors, and of course, the subject. With respect to sharpness and blurring, I prefer the original. I would like it better also if the left edge of the pepper did not exactly hit the left edge of the stem of the mushroom. Feb 1st
