What's wonderful Oliver. A case of "When you've got lemons, make lemonade." That leaf really distinguishes this shot from most flower shots. It would be great if it were possible to retain the full line of the edge of the leaf, which now just grazes the top edge. I also like your darkening of the background as it helps make the bud stand out. |

Thank you. I suspected that it was a honeysuckle, but I didn't know for sure. |

I did not edit anything out, so what you are seeing is what was there. The red petals did not touch any of the leaves. Note that the petals have a peculiar shape and that parts of some of them are in the shad. |

Oliver's brightening of the woman helps a lot, but at a loss of the feeling of the stormy day. I wonder if there is a way to retain that and still brighten the woman? Here is my attempt at it where I have also leveled the horizon, but not added Oliver's vignetting. |

Insects in the wild are really difficult. If it were possible to shoot again, the image would have a greater depth of field if the exposure were increased to 1/100 second and the aperture reduced to f/11 or even more. The somewhat dark resulting image could then be brightened and further sharpened in post. This image becomes a little nicer to me if it is brightened and sharpened somewhat. |

I very much like the color and the orientation of the bud. I think that I would like this more if the background were more blurred, particularly that threatening leaf in the upper right, and if more of the bud were in focus. Next time you might try using something like f/22 and then blurring the background later in processing. |

What a lovely, peaceful scene. The brick arch and its reflection are very nice. Another option in this is to crop from the left to remove the bare section of the canal's wall.
When this is done the shape of the image is a bit awkward and the arch is too centered. Therefore, to make it feel comfortable, I took a little off the top, bottom, and right side. After looking at this for a while, I came to prefer the image as Leonid has done it. |
