Perhaps this is closer to what Bill was seeing and wanted to record. |

For me, Dorinda's crop suggestion increases the apparent plausibility of some rain falling on the square, and I also like Tom's crop suggestions, but I still prefer the image as it would appear without the artificial rain. |

Acting on your feeling that the image is too dark, I've played around a bit. First though, I'll mention that my calibration for brightness seems to be different from the rest of the world's, I like things dark. Just lightening the entire image makes the background compete with the mushrooms, which I don't like. Lightening the entire mushrooms certainly makes them pop, but the stems then look like they are glowing. Finally, lightening the caps as far as I dare without making the blown areas too large, and then very slightly lightening the stems yields this image, which I agree, is nicer than what I originally submitted. |

Thank you for the B&W suggestion. I then tried it, and it works pretty well, although I slightly prefer the color version. Perhaps this is because in B&W I like contrast and hard, sharp edges, sort of the opposite of what this image is. |

It is a creative and unusual, yet familiar, subject. I think I would have preferred fewer egg shells. I also think that I prefer this in B&W. |

Thank you for the original. From it I can make something pretty close to your image by sharpening and increasing local contrast. |

Tom, your revision feels a little overdone to me. How about this? |

I love the moody, dark, damp, basic image of the plazza and buildings with the one illuminated window. I would like the composite image considerably more if the contrast in the sky and clouds were less exaggerated, if the clouds looked like they could actually drop rain on the plazza, if the rainfall were more realistic, for example less dense and with the presence of puddles on the plazza, and if there were not a disconnected part of the tree in the middle of the sky and clouds. |

This is a great shot of the bee, it is so sharp. I wonder to what extent Topaz AI sharpened the image. Would it be possible to see the unprocessed original? I wanted to see how Topaz AI works before thinking about spending money on it so I went to the web site, but that was most disappointing. They provide no technical information and no specs. You can't even tell what file types, what sizes of images, what bit depth, or what color spaces it works with. Sadly, such superficiality seems all too common at many web sits.

I like the expression of pride and satisfaction. I also like the fact that the woman's head does not overlap the Christmas tree. I find that I like the image a little bit more when it is cropped from the left nearly to the woman's shoulder. I recognize that this cropping is problematic though, for it is nice to have plenty of open space in the direction the woman is looking. Possibly this would have been improved if it had been possible to have shot from slightly to the right so that there would be even more space between the woman's head and the tree. Alas, this suggestion would have been almost impossible to implement however because the woman's expression would have been too transient to have allowed a second shot. |

I think this is a great documentary photo that shows the locale of the arch, its immense size, and its color. |

I find these curves and their complementarity to be most pleasing. What an inventive modification of the original shot. To me this would be a little nicer if the very edge of the top leaf were not so close to being blown, perhaps if it had a little more color? |
