It could be we like the reversed image better because we read from left to right. Take a look at pictures of people doing something right handed, and then reverse the picture. Often it will look awkward and unnatural. |

For a really good 90 minute video on night photography, see the B&H video by Jeff Cable at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSyxB9Zd3LU |

I'm just a little leery of bw for this because of its potential similarity to the image from the final scene of Ingmar Bergman's film "The Seventh Seal", see the final image in the Wikipedia article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seventh_Seal. |

Before I read Dorinda's comment, I had also decided that a blue chair needed emphasis, probably by moving one a bit and then shooting from rather close to the chair. At the 6" x 8" of this image on my monitor, it feels like it lacks a subject. I think this wouldn't be the case if it were printed three feet across. |

BW seems reasonable too. I agree that cropping the bottom and a bit from the top and right improves the image. Because this lacks detail in the objects, I don't find that a crop as close as yours feels quite right. |

Untilting made this feel more comfortable. This was taken at just the right time, daytime and it would have been boring, and later at night the sky would have been too dark. |

It was very smart to reverse this left to right. In the other orientation, the image feels unnatural. I like it with the local contrast increased on the frond. |

I like the feeling of depth (which is absent in some focus stacked images) and the sharpness of the anthers. The yellow of the stigma and the purple of the petals go well together. The cropping is also appealing. |

Very nice. I love the tall grass, and I'm certainly wondering what the woman is thinking about. Wasn't it this month that the PSA magazine had an article about when one must obtain permission from people you photograph.? I've forgotten the details, but it seems like this might be a marginal case on the basis of being able to identify the woman, and also on the basis of being in a public place with a reasonable expectation of being photographed. |

The green and the grey are a nice combination, along with the yellow. The leaves immediately caught my eye, but then I began to feel that they had been slightly overdone. The composition is great. There was not much you could do about it, but in a perfect world, more of the face of the cherub would be in sunlight. |
