A well executed photograph of an iconic location. I have stood in that spot, as well. The toning and detail is very good. An early weekend morning is the best time to shoot for little canal or human traffic. With a bit of minor cleanup of the trails below and above the Basilica, It will make a lovely print. |

Jennifer, you did a masterful job in this composite. The alignment, sizing and spacing of the components are believable to the eye. This image really conveys the entire arc (had to use that word) of the event. One minor addition of masking in a radial spin blur to the wheel spokes, would, subliminally, give this scene a bit more action. Your decision to give the otherwise flat white sky a bit of tint was a good one. A sky replacement would have been distracting. Good work! |

I really like the POV composition, very dynamic and evocative. The grain gives testimony to the high ASA film and give the image an impression of an other era of photography. I, personally, would like to see a bit more range of contrast. I think a little pure black in the deep shadows would enhance the mood. Perhaps this is only my impression, looking through the lens of the current era. |
