39 Jan 22 Comment What a great capture. The barren ivy gives a thorny look that matches perfectly with the gargoyles. I half expect Count D to crawl up the wall any second. Jan 17th
39 Jan 22 Comment If I had only seen the color image I would have thought, hey that is a really nice photo, but the black and white just blows it out of the water. Than one would be hanging on my wall. Jan 16th
39 Jan 22 Comment I love these high contrast snow images. We don't get snow down here in southeast Texas so when I've tried to shoot snow when I happened to somewhere that it existed, I've always blown it out. I know better but I never get it right and it's frustrating as I just don't get those opportunities often. And following Jerry, the title is perfect. Jan 16th
39 Jan 22 Comment What a terrific image. The hand gestures of the kids obviously following the lead of an unseen speaker and the one boy turned to his neighbor making him laugh-just a wonderful story. Jan 15th
39 Jan 22 Reply I probably shouldn't admit this but I was so focused on getting the shallow d-o-f/exposure combination right that I didn't notice the orientation of the end glass until I processed the image! Jan 15th

62 Jan 22 Comment Hi Israel

I was perusing several groups when I came across your image and stopped to take a closer look immediately. After reading your interesting history of the location, I wouldn't change a thing in the photo. Based on the history, you've nailed it in my opinion. As an image telling a story, I have no interest in the background behind the gentleman as the background shadows appropriately brings him to the fore. And the toning provides a warmth that fits the narrative. The gentleman door keeper appears to be moving from the darkness into the warm light which again fits your historical narrative. A wonderful image.
