It is always good to stretch--physically and photographically! |

I saw a photo of the main stairway in this Charleston house and had to go in but was surprised to find this in a different location. It was quite different from the main winding one. |

Some of my manipulated stairways show more stairs than others. I have multiple versions from the Old Statehouse in Dover, DE that have been accepted in PSA exhibitions and one is in this year's Chapter Showcase in the Mid-Atlantic chapter. We were the 2nd runner up this year. I don't get out to shoot as much as I used to so I enjoy working on old images to see what effects I get. I like your crop. |

My first thought was that the color didn't look real to me and perhaps that is due to HDR. As you all know, I am not great at processing and don't use many of the tools you all do. At this stage, I try to keep things simple. I do like the re-edit verison much better.
I would like to see just the tree as the subject instead as part of a landscape. |

Well I learned something with this--I have only done this with a camera zooming the lens during exposure. I like the effect. I have to ask if you took the photo in a grocery store or florist shop--I do that sometimes with my phone and no one has stopped me yet. I'll have to try more of the Topaz filters. I like the image a lot; it has great color and certainly gets attention. Well done. |

Maybe my senior mind is missing something, but thisimage is not monochrome to me since you have more than one tone/color--green and yellow. Grayscale is different than monochrome according to PSA definition where toned images are permited in PID-M, but not in the reality divisions. I converted it to monochrome in Silver Efex Pro and like it as what I call monochrome. I prefer Ron's blue version, but think it is good we have different opinions! |

Karen, You have a winner here. The composition is great and the bear is tack sharp with a nice expression. The plants are even in the right place. The picture goes to show we don't always need a tripod and time to get a great picture. You even got good light. |

This is a nice head shot of the eagle. The eye shows up nicely and the feathers have good detail. I assume your club has a monochrome competition since you mentioned you converted it for a club competition. Depending on what you want to do with the image, you could change the background and do the cloning as you did on the beak. Much depends on competition rules. |

You certainly caught the peak of action! In the Nature Division of PSA as in the other reality based Divisions--PJ and Photo Travel, there is less emphasis on technical aspects and more on the "story". It would be nice to see the eyes, but the action is more important. Birds are a tough subject--at least for me and I think you did well to catch this one. |
