Beverly,
Thanks for the edit; you did a good job on it. I like to look without the pole. |

Bob,
Our son lives in SoCal so we have spent a lot of time in the LA area (not recently though) so I am always looking for places to see while he is working. The building is worth seeing, but hard to get around as it is not very big. I have some horizontal shots which may work better. I love detail shots so concentrated on the wood and iron work. I may not have had access to other floors. |

Bill, I have to save a copy of this since it is such a great shot of one of my favorite cities. I didn't climb any towers but this must have been across the Charles Bridge since I see the Tyn Church in the upper left corner. This would do well in a travel competition. The colors and composition are really nice. Well done! |

Absolutely beautiful! I didn't know there were balloon events in NH. I've seen them in NC and NM. The color is great and the reflections really add to the image. I agree with Beverly, but understand you can't do that for PJ, but you could for PID. Many years ago, my club arranged for a group trip in balloons and it was quite an experience. The one I was in landed on a golf course! We were able to shoot other balloons in the air and a friend sent one to the Wash. Post and I am in it. |

I like this and it would work well as a photo travel image. Cropping the tarp would make her head too close to the top and cropping on the left doesn't work very well.Travel judges do not consider distractions like the motorcycles since they are what you saw. For PID, you could change the background by copying the road across the top. |

Stephan,
Since I am involved in the Photo Travel Division, I always think about the rules for a travel image. That Division as well as Photojournalism and Nature are reality based divisions and have specific rules about what can be done to a picture for competition. |

I love this image; it shows simplicity works. I think it needs a bit of contrast and wanted to play with it. I reversed it since we look to the right (maybe a silly "rule" and added detail and contrast using SEP full dynamic harsh and a small vignette. It would be interesting to see it with the light on. It is a beautiful fixture. |

For me, this is more an abstract than a portrait. The form is wonderful and technically is well done. The water patterns are great alone. I find it quite interesting that underwater photography and portraits especially are so popular. Nevada Wier has gotten into that--partly due to the pandemic. |
