You are so right about PSA stars. It has been an expensive experience with my low acceptance rate. I just wanted to try so so how I could do. My club dues are high and I don't like to drive at night and I lost interest in club competition after so many years. The club has so many top notch photographers that i would do worse than I have in PSA! So, I because an emeritus member--no dues and no competition. I don't do prints, but did in the darkroom years ago and a few digital. |

Beautiful catch, but I agree a smaller aperture would help with the focus. Birds in flight are one of the toughest subjects to do. I would also crop a bit on the right since there is so much empty space. I used NIK to make changes it there appears to be color or some type of pattern in the background. I just used a color adjustment. You certainly need a tripod for that lens! |

I am trying to learn sky replacement and it is fairly easy if it is a building or something like this, but trees are another story. Topaz is supposed to do it magically and I have to try it. |

It is also impacting my grammar and spelling! a mall! not an mall. My only good HS English teacher would not approve of my error! All those years and one really good English teacher. Foreign language teachers were much better. I smashed a D70s on the Alaska Highway and bought a new one in Edmonton and mailed the broken one to a neighbor and then had my D100 converted to IR. I still have it and a D300 and D7200 sitting unloved and unused:-(. |

I made a comment but somehow it did not get posted--or I answered Bob's comment and forgot! I know some would say you must have an odd number of subjects, but I don't think we have to follow all the "rules"! I have heard too many judges refer to them as mandatory and don't agree. The figures are nicely separated and the pole or whatever it is could be a 5th item:-). I like your color and think Bob's is a bit too unrealistic, but China would love it. |

I find myself going through older images to see what I can do with them. I shot only jpeg in my early digital days and am amazed how much processing them can make a difference. We used to hit a lot of antique malls years ago when we had a booth in an mall, but now many are gone (including the one we were in) and we just pass by most of the time. I can see I can so some more playing with this image. I got an even better image for glass in another place |

Bob,
Good point on the light. I will try to rework it. I do learn a lot from this group. |

I like both your images upside down or right side up. Changing anything depends on what you want to do with it. It could be a great PJ image, especially for a sports category. That means you can't clone or change anything except for cropping and normal processing. PJ images are not judged as much for technical quality as for the story they tell.I think you caught the action well. I have had an upside down biker accepted so it all depends. |

I like the image and didn't notice the colored lights until you mentioned them! I have never tried light painting or shooting the Milky Way--maybe in my next life. I cropped some sky to put more emphasis on the tree which is what I want to see here. Well done. You never know about competition. I have had ordinary images accepted and some with lots of acceptances get low scores. |

Bob,
A once local photographer moved to HI several years ago and she has said they are putting arriving passengers in quarantine for 2 weeks. A couple were recently on the beach and sent inside. |

I really like this image, but think it would be more dramatic with less sky. I also cloned part of a tail/fin in the lower right corner. The lines going across the sharks add quite a lot of interest for me; I am not sure if they are part of the sharks or from the water, but I love them.Technically this is right on with exposure and color. |

We were there eons ago and much has changed since. The hall of flags was not there when we were. I am with Dorinda about getting up early! I managed it at Death Valley, but prefer sunset! You must have been on a trail to get that close to the faces with 140mm. I find the cloud a bit distracting and found one on the Mt. R website with a plain blue sky which is less distracting. That sculpture is amazing when you realize how large the heads are. Borglum has an interesting history and is best know for this work. Your image has more color than most we see including the attachment. Well done. |
