Bob,
PSA standards do NOT permit adding anything the photographer did not make. Purchased filters like fly[paper and other special effects should not be used. That being said, not all follow the rules! I haven't read all the standards rules, but even in PID, the entire work must be done by the photographer. China and some other countries pay exhibitors to compete. If you look at the ROPA recognitions, few are from the US. |

Ed and I decided long ago we'd never take another cruise on a huge ship. They are too crowded and have too many things that don't interest us. We discovered Cruise West which sadly went out of business after our Bering Sea cruise. They tried to do more than they could handle. NY apparently hasn't used the hospital ship that was sent there. I hope the military isn't hurt by all this. |

Well done and you picked the right one. For this kind of shot, you just have to keep shooting to catch the right moment, I agree with Karen that a bit off the left side is a good idea. The writing doesn't bother me and the company that made it would probably love it! |

I like the silhouettes with 2 figures and 3 for an odd total. I think the light pole on the left is distracting so I removed it using content aware but the sky needs a bit more work. There are several possibilities for this image. The color is great and the lightest spot is right in the middle and leads the viewer into the picture. Well done. |

I agree with the other comments. There is too much in the picture. The local boat is much more interesting, but I would want rocks in the background more than just water. Cruise ships are a nuisance for photographers! |

I would have had more gear if I had been in the USA on a driving trip. Going overseas makes taking gear a challenge. My husband loves cars so I had to find some museums he would enjoy. I actually love seeing old cars too and there are several car museums in Germany that are great. |

Lighting was poor and if I had had my Olympus gear, it would have done better. Topaz has a new plugin that sounds good for sharpening. I'll have to learn how to use it. |

I agree the selection wasn't what it should be. I love trying different things for this group and always get good feedback. Thanks. |

Bob, I love your version! I really like graphic images and need to look for more that I am sure I have. I agree the red needs more pop and I did a lousy job of selecting. I was surprised that the diagonal at the top didn't fill in. |

Beautiful image. You all make me want to try Luminar. The photographer at the PSA Conferences uses and loves it. Such changes would not be permitted in the reality based divisions (Nature, PJ and PT), but I am sure there is plenty of changes being done and it depends on the judges. PTD has come out with a set of guidelines for PT judges and those who enter and see bad PT images are to report them. I do! In PID almost anything can be done as long as it is the work by the photographer. We see pros do things that we can't do and then our work is judged against theirs! The sky is better with the rays, but would still be good without them. I lightened the boat a bit. Lots of possibilities.
BTW, there is a jigsaw puzzle app for iOS where you can use your own pictures. I love using it and I never liked jigsaw puzzles before. You can go from 4 - 400 pieces, which wouldn't be enough for Karen. |

Custer SP is a fabulous place, but I don't remember this tree:-). I love the tree, but the sky has multiple problems. It looks mottled to me. I can only replace skies for shots with straight lines--you know me and my limited processing skills! Trees make replacing skies difficult. Rules keep changing, but I know PSA does not permit purchased textures/flypaper etc. I don't know what the rules are about all the AI stuff that i don't quite understand. I love the composition, but the sky really hurts it. |
