Thanks, Bob. In some cases it is nice to see the original for comparison. We can't always shoot level even when shtanding! |

Me too! Unless one is traveling by car, the less equipment the better. A back up camera is good to have if there is room. I had my only camera "die" on a trip eons ago, but it fixed itself fortunately. |

That's what is nice about abstracts--we can see what we want. |

Memories are important and pictures help us retain them. I've been going through old slides and they really bring back memories of forgotten things.I don't do event photography but tried a few weddings long ago and decided I would apend my time photographing other things. |

At least you took music lessons! Our kids tried, but didn't last long. Our granddaughter is now playing the cello and our son has taken up guitar for relaxation from running a business. I can't read music, but love to listen. |

I like your modification! I think the background was supposed to represent some part of Germany. I was trying to keep it for PJ or PT which has to be what I saw, but could certainly play
with it for PID. I did in an monochrome too and put it in my mono group so it will be interesting to see what they say. I am going through my files looking for "new" pictures to work on. |

Venice is a photographer's dream! I love the architecture here, but the leaning is distracting. I have to remind myself to include more sky to make room for straightening. I straightened it a bit more and added space at the top, but afraid I lost part of the building in the process. I think it lacks contrast so added that too. I am sure you had a fabulous time there. |

What a great view you got. We saw it multiple times on our first trip to Alaska which is rare. I agree the color seems a bit off and I changed it in Color Efex Pro. We have not taken the train there, but have been 6 times! It is a beautiful park and well worth multiple visits. |

The composition is lovely and I think 2 works well here. I don't think we always need an odd number in pictures. It bothers me a bit to have the tree so close to the edge so I tried to add some space. I am not very good at this, but had to try. I also lightened the trees a bit and darkened the sky. You were fortunate to get the trees without all the tourists! Great seeing. |

What a beautiful scene in which the bridge and pond form a nice diagonal across the image. I added a bit of contrast and brought out some detail. Have you tried photographers' gloves? They really work well and make shooting in cold weather more comfortable. I have used several different ones and there are thin ones that enable one to use all the dials. I have been to Yellowstone twice in winter and they come in handy. |

Karen,
I agree the T-shirt is distracting, but since it had the musician's name on it and I had already cropped quite a bit so I decided it fit with the image. BTW, I heard from a friend at Christmas that she has a cousin who is part of a 50 member alphorn group based in Germany. When i saw the picture, I thought of you.

I think the firework part is well done and to me, it is the focal point of the picture. The dark areas detract a lot for me.I lightened the dark portions and cropped the left side. Kudos for even trying this shot. I would love to see more fireworks in the sky. |

The texture is very appealing and the knot is the icing on the cake.I added contrast and also tried a conversion to monochrome. I think it works in both color and monochrome. Well seen! |
