Good for you being patient and waiting for a person to appear.I agree that the area is too dark to see what is there. Bringing out some detail without making it too bright would help. |

Ah, my kind of image and the monochrome suits it well. I like the shadows on the background. I think removing the white line about the bottles on the left would improve it; my eye keeps going there and I want to see the bottles. |

Well done, especially considered it was and held. You have steady hands! There are 2 bright areas of leaves along the left side and I find them distracting. You could crop them or clone them out. That is just a tiny nitpick. |

Thanks, Bob and Dorinda. I had a friend who was a flower expert, but don't remember most of what she taught me! |

Beautiful image! Well composed and exposed. This shows a good use of a telephoto lens vs. a macro lens. The leaves coming in toward the flower hold everything together. |

Thanks, Tam. You have a good point to use the dark areas to contain the image. |

Thanks for the suggestions, Karen. It sometimes hard to decide just how and where to crop. |

You certainly met the assignment, but the lighting is harsh and detracts from your lovely subject. There are too many shadows due to the scattered light. Karen's crop is an improvement for me. |

Wow! Great composition and lighting. You made quite an improvement over the original. The detail adds impact and interest. Well, I do like old buildings and just did 2 workshops--one in an old Dixie Cup factory which nearly did me in. The Next day, we went to an old church which is much in need of restoration, but there were lots of interesting things
to photograph and I did most from a stool since my back took a beating the day before.
This reminds me a bit of the steel plant near Pittsburgh. |
