Great subject for monochrome and your brother makes the picture. I straightened it a bit with correct distortion filter. I used the wet rocks preset in SEP which provides more detail. |

Great sunset and great graphics.I used the level and it seems level to me and the vertical items are straight. I agree with Bob about cropping the bottom, but don't think it has to be symmetrical--artist choice.I kind of like that the part of the bridge on the right is different. Very nice capture. |

Tam,
I know birds are hard to photograph but you caught a nice grouping. I agree the top should be cropped as it adds nothing to the image. I think it is cropped a bit tight, but we can't control what birds will do. I would like to see some highlights in the eyes. |

Karen,
I love this and making a reverse copy really makes it more interesting and provides better composition. Years ago, my club did swinging lights which produced similar results. We wasted a lot of film, but it was a great bad weather project. We hung a flashlight from the ceiling and swung it around while changing color gels. Do you move the light while your camera was on a tripod? It sounds as if the color was on the light rather than in front of the lens. You continue to inspire me to experiment. |

Bob,
I like your version with the flower tilted a bit. As you know I need to work on processing, but a diffuser might have helped when I shot it. I tried cropping the leaves but that didn't look right.

Karen, It is probably my eyes! I should use a tripod for such pictures, but I didn't know what I would see and my sherpa can't help carry my gear any more:-). I can magnify images but rarely do it. |

Bradenton is very familiar to me as I had a photo friend who spent winters there and I went down with other friends and we did a lot of photographer on the Gulf Coast.
I agree that horizon needs to be straight. I love using different techniques, but I don't think the process you used (posterization?) fits the subject. I think a straight version would work better. |

We took a tour here in 2010 in a Chevy truck-great guide. I am curious there the bright area came from since it diesn't appear in the original. I have heard that Native Americans had a symbol similar to the swastika so I had to look it up. The symbol is at least 12000 years old and means well being in Sanskrit. It is sad that such an old symbol now represents such hatred. The color is certainly better in your version which lacks contrast. The color seems unreal to me and you could tone it down a bit. Canyon de Chelly is a fabulous place and we are glad we splurged on a 2 hr tour. |
