Thanks for the background information. That must have been quite a fire, especially at that time. |

Bob, this can't go in PJ or any reality based Division since I changed the background. I don't have all the PSA letters and have probably reached my limit. After 5 stars in PID-C I can use an image just 3 times so quite a few acceptances don't count. Getting to 1500 acceptances seems impossible. I never thought I'd get 700!
I have 1 acceptance on this image and it won't count unless I get too more. I really want to learn better processing and am slowing down on competition.

So,this was your excuse for missing the conference! I have never seen a wine press like this either. The lines are great as is,the color. It does seem oversaturated on my iPad. I took it into Snapseed and lowered the saturation a bit. |

Tam, All I. An say is wow! This is a gorgeous image and so sharp, especially around the eyes which is so important. The tiger is placed perfectly in the frame and the lighting enhances the image. It should do well in exhibitions.

Karen,
I love the reflection--it makes the picture. I know it was foggy, but Imwould like to see more light on the bird's face. Just to experiment, I copied this and opened it in Snapseed and tried to lighten the face. I wasn't sure how to get it back here so I hope it worked. You do such good nature work and I am hoping to get some worthy pictures while we're in CA. |

Ellen,
Very good phone photo. It is amazing how well they perform, especially some of the apps like ProCam, HDR apps etc Are you a er? We have one serious one in our PSA Chapter. The color is nice and the lights lead us through the image. I wish there were something in the back to look at. The wall is very interesting and would have made a good background for,the stones without anything else. I think cropping the top down to,cover the light in the upper left corner. I am traveling and using my iPad so it would be more of a challenge to process it. I figured out how to make a correction. |

Bob,
Well done. I don't know anything about the fire and assume this machine was not actually in the fire. It doesn't matter, but I am curious. Didn't know Allie-Chalmers had a predecessor. We do learn a lot,in this group!
I like the effect of the monochrome machine combined with the color indicating fire. You know a lot more about processing than I do!
Let us know how you're doing. I hope to see you in Pittsburgh.

Karen, your comment doesn't upset me; I think you hit the nail on the head😀. It is hard for the makers not to be influenced by the memories that go with the image. This guy was quite a character and I think went to Alaska to get away from a bad situation. I was desperate for people pictures that hadn't been use in DIGA before or were otherwise ineligible.
We should all be honest or we won't learn and that is what study groups are for. Thanks. Judy. |
