Hi Karen - I agree about the centered bell tower. I'll see what I can do, however as I recall, I only cropped the image slightly to begin with and I like the daily life happenings in the surrounding buildings. I'll take another look when I'm addressing the saturation issue to see what alternatives there are for addressing the bell tower location . . . that may take care of the white building in the upper left as well. Thanks for your observations . . . always appreciated! |

Hi Greg - The two-story yellow building in the lower right - upper level with the patio off the front - was our hotel room. The views from there couldn't have been better! I appreciate the added vote to make the bell tower stand out a bit more - |

Hi Ingrid - It was a wonderful trip. Having been there it is hard to believe that the population is that small as well. While well worth visiting, it's definitely not a 'hidden' gem given all the tourists that shared our trip to the region (and we went in the shoulder season). To add a bit of perspective, this shot was taken on a hiking trail across a large ravine the town is built around. My back to was to the Ligurian Sea. The views were gorgeous no matter which way you looked. |

Hi Tom - Thanks for the suggestions. I'll play with it a bit more in post and see what works. |

Hi Kamal - It's the colors that bring all the impact to this image. Great capture for all the reasons everyone else has mentioned. If it were mine, I might make it more of a panorama, taking it to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Doing this would take a bit of the water off the bottom and place the main large island in the lower third of the image . . . providing more interest and more leeway to let the eye flow upward as Tom describes. Anyway, just a thought. You've captured the Maldives from a unique angle, one that I haven't seen before. Nice work! |

Hi Karen - What an adventure to capture this image! You did a good job getting the angle to capture so much of the river below. I like that you got some vegetation in the foreground and the color is well balanced, too. If it were mine, I might have cropped a bit more out of the sky. I think your title works - That's a Lot of Rock is the only title I came up with - I like yours better :) |

Hi Greg - Your seniors have a great time at the holidays. Santa seems to be enjoying the event as well! You've captured an iconic portrait in a new light. A nice image in the spirit of the holidays and technically well-handled as usual. |

Hi Ingrid - The lighting makes this image - the colors radiate and create impact! I agree with your choice of leaving in that bit of sky, although I'm not sure it matters. My eyes are drawn to the winter landscape. A small nit - that bit of orange fencing that stands out at the center right. Your post processing is well done - love the color balance in this image. This is a beautiful image - well done! |

Hi Erin - Whatever you did or didn't do, it works. Nice capture! I particularly like the detail and textures as well as your adjustments to the yellows/oranges. Did you lighten up the head? You captured the eye nicely as well. I debated about suggesting removal of some extraneous shadows but thought better of it - I wouldn't change a thing. |

Hi Tom - Beautiful Flying Fox portrait and what a great vantage point! You did a lovely job of capturing the wing tips creating the splash, those eyes, and textures. I like the reflections of the bat as well as those in the background too - adds some depth. I agree though that the light reflections in the foreground don't do anything to enhance the image. Technically well done. You were certainly rewarded for venturing out in such heat! |
