Hi Erin - A beautiful opportunity shot. That wonderful sunset night sky highlighted further by the silhouettes. I agree with Tom's and Ingrid's observations. Perhaps a small thing - I might have eliminated the flagpole on the left as well. This image shows the kind of night and that feeling of the lake you want to remember! |

Hi Kamal - This is a lovely capture. I particularly like that the nets pull my eye into the scene angling up from left to right. You've caught the water at it's most transparent which allows for better visibility of the nets. I agree with the technical comments identified by others. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Ingrid - I appreciate your suggestions. I think I might try darkening the bottom before cropping. As for the color, I didn't particular care for it originally, but I've been around this flower so long, the color has grown on me over time. |

Hi Greg - Thanks for the kind comments. Printing it out is a good suggestion, if only for sentimental purposes . . . I don't do that as often as I should. |

Hi Tom - What a good time this fellow is having - Little Corellas sure seem to like attention! Beautiful focus, detail, texture and color balance. Great capture of a unique bird behavior - something judges love in nature shots. Well done close-up! |

Hi Greg - Nice opportunity shot! This guy was really keeping an eye on you enabling you to catch a glint in both eyes and capture him head on - a true portrait. I really like the crisp detail you were able to pull from the first photo and the color of the bird's breast is almost iridescent. The image is nicely cropped which eliminated the bigger distractions. I might have cropped more off the bottom to eliminate the towel(?) in the foreground and either dull down or remove the post behind the bird's tail altogether (which seems to be the preference in the discussion). Good job elevating a ho hum original. |

Hi Tom - Thanks for the vignette suggestion. That will probably do quite nicely - I'll give it a try. |

Hi Leslie - Thanks for visiting DD Group 14 and adding to the discussion. I don't see this variety of bearded iris in many gardens.

Hi Karen - What a magnificent oak tree! The Spanish Moss seems to like it as well and adds interest to the tree's appeal. Tom's suggestion is interesting - worth a try to see if it enhances the image further.
As a side note, I have a couple of photographer friends that have "their tree" they photograph all seasons of the year. Perhaps you have found one to photograph each time you visit. |

Hi Ingrid - What a beautifully composed composite. I like your choice of going to 50% grey - a great way to subtly unite the images - taking it over the top in addition to subjects, rust and cropping. It also addresses any differences in lighting. Nice overall balance in the layout as well. I have no suggestions. I believe you were successful in achieving the overall effect you were after. Well done! |
