Hi Ingrid - Great eye! This is a really nice minimalist image. I like it's almost abstract nature focusing on texture and color. The blue line at the top of the stairs draws my eye and stops me from leaving the image. Being overly picky -I wish that the turn in the wall on the right wasn't exactly even with a stair top. I, too, prefer that this image isn't all in focus - I believe it would be rather boring and flat. That said, for publications, exhibitions and some juror's, the expectations may agree more with Lance's observations. Well done - |

Hi Erin - What a cutie! You've captured a great puppy portrait for your friend. I know that's not easily done at 6 months old. You've done well to capture his stance so that Rocky is facing the camera head on, the detail in the dark fur and enough of his side that fully captures his strut. His personality is clearly on display. The focus is crisp and right where it should be - on his face, those eyes and the stick. Nice capture! |

Hi Kamal - You have quite the series of impressive aerial fishing images going. I like the symmetry, composition and the texture portrayed in this image. The texture of the water almost gives the illusion of being painted on canvas - was that adjusted for in post? I also like how the white net's outline stands out and shows tension and contrast against the water so there is no question as to the story. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Tom - Thank you for sharing your settings. Big points for being motivated to get up in the dead of night and be awake enough to think about proper settings. You did a great job in processing - drawing detail from the darks and the 30 seconds delay softened, smoothed and added a lovely feel to the water and sky. I also like the impact created from your adjustments to white balance. Really beautiful color brought out for that time of day. Quite minor suggestions - I might have softened the bright light on the dock a step further just to see if it hurts or helps and perhaps remove the red dot on the horizon's left side. A unique and striking image! |

Hi Greg - Again, having an original that is lighted so beautifully almost ensures that almost anything you did in Auto Painting was only going to enhance the image. I like the impact upon first look. You have a good eye for choosing where to start and where to go with this software. I particularly like how the image is framed, the texture, how the composition leads your eye and how the sky was made more interesting. Your processing has put a creative, beautiful fine arts spin on the original. No suggestions. |

Hi Karen - I think you've clearly met your camera club assignment. It's a lovely late Autumn image - with a beautiful golden glow that is replicated in the no passing road lines. The golden yellow is so pervasive that I didn't even see the road signs to begin with. It is all perfectly contrasted by the shadows in the tree trunks/branches and nicely patterned on the road. For further contrast, I might have tried to up the greens a bit although the limited palette as is works well. The winding road and it's markings do their job drawing the viewer's attention deeper into the image. The vignette is a nice touch as well. What's not to like? Nicely done! |
