Hi Erin - You can see the determination in the arms/hands; the focus and concentration in her face. I agree the story would have been more complete with an added runner as described above. If you don't have that burst of shots with the trailing runner in plain sight, perhaps cropping in the fence leading to the trailing runner to add more of a sense of place? Maybe/maybe not. Nice job in post processing - sharp where it needs to be, the colors well balanced and the background is nicely separated from the foreground. What a great accomplishment for your daughter . . . photographs of those experiences are priceless! Thanks for sharing - |

Hi Karen - A lovely capture of emotion and support. I like that it is a close-up and personal composition. The focal point is a beautiful story of support told through the hands. As you mention, the harshness of the flash detracts. Tom's suggestion of moving to B&W might soften the flash some - worth a try. What a great compliment to be asked to participate and be of service for such a worthy event. |

Hi Kamal - Beautiful cultural image from an interesting vantage point. The colors are rich and don't compete. Your aspect ratio of 2:3 is nice. Perhaps try an aspect ratio of 3:4 so that it takes off some of the empty sky above the moon - a minor adjustment really - purely a personal choice. I like the simplicity of the composition. Well captured! |

Hi Tom - Your landscape images are so lovely and there is a lot to like about this one as well. Beautiful lighting, reflections and well chosen vantage point. Technically well done. The movement of the couple doesn't bother me. A slight distraction - While none of the other street lights are a bother, my eye is drawn to the brightness of the top light in the upper left - perhaps because it is chopped off to such a degree or perhaps just because it is positioned above all else? If it were mine, I'd consider removing it - is that an easy fix with focus stacking? I've had focus stacking described to me numerous times and don't think I'll fully understand the process until I can get a physical step by step walk-through. Perhaps a goal for the new year . . . Well done! |

Hi Greg - What a creative final image you created from the original! It has all the elements most would look for in a successful art piece. Good choices all around; well done! |

Hi Ingrid - What's not to love about the old prairie barns seen throughout the Midwest! I can see why this architectural composition caught your eye. The only, very minor, suggestion on the crop might be to bring the top down just a smidge so that the edging on the second barn isn't showing. Replacing the sky was a good choice. That said, the swap out of the sky may have been the cause of the background transition issue to which Tom refers . . . sky replacements can be tricky. Perhaps just toning down that back field to match the lighting (or lack thereof) in the sky. I think it's a great addition to your series - just needs a few minor tweaks. |
