Hi Kamal - I can see the fishing boats and nets you describe, but my first impression was purely abstract . . . it makes for interesting photography both ways. I agree with others on the crop. Something to consider for next time - perhaps try the image as a horizontal to place more emphasis on the movement of the boats. The blue of the nets is a nice contrast to the Pashur River. What an interesting vantage point you get to have of the world - who needs drones :) |

Hi Xiao - What an impressively beautiful Northern Flicker. Love the softness of the background which serves to highlight this lovely bird. Wishing you all the best with the new Bird group. As with Ingrid and her group focused on Flowers & Plants, it will be interesting to continue to follow your efforts. Thanks for your contributions to Group 14. |

Hi Tom - I think you certainly achieved the glow and exaggeration of colors you were after taking fully advantage of the software in PP. I am glad you included the original for contrast due to the abstract nature of the finished project. I enjoy the color explosion that is offset nicely by the cool blue and soft purple tones. The original is a bit bland but had enough of that great fall color to get you started. Thanks for sharing - |

Hi Greg - What a striking photograph. As I know little about astro photography, I appreciate your sharing what it took to achieve this image. The light painting adds drama and interest and is offset by the Milky Way and the vastness created by the multitudes of stars in the dark sky. Technically excellent; the entire image comes together nicely. Well done! |

Hi Karen - I commend you on your willingness to go the extra mile for your friends on such a happy occasion. You seem to know what you are doing. Playing with poses most likely put her at ease and made for this nicely captured portrait. I like how the pose ensures her dress falls just right and her expression appears natural and relaxed. Thanks for sharing - |

Hi Ingrid - This is a beautiful gladiola - the color, composition (aided by the increased canvas size) and dark background provide contrast and impact. As Tom mentioned, the image as submitted, is a bit too small at 67kb to really comment on more broadly. I find it satisfying to give an image another try in post with a fresh perspective and better tools. Good on you for giving it another go! |

Hi Tom - I did think about those fronds but kind of like that they were leading back to the focal point. Should have thought again and darkened the background. I had hoped the background was a bit more abstract, that would have helped some with that concern as well. Thanks for the input - |

Hi Greg - This image was taken a 1 1/2 years ago, so I'm not for certain about the whys of it all. What I do recall is that it was extremely overcast, rainy actually and a bit on the windy side, off and on . . . not the best of conditions and I was trying for a close up with a 400mm autofocus lens. Best guess - I may have continued to increase my ISO on images hoping for a better exposure. This may have contributed to a bit of softness in the image as very little was cropped from the original. Between the wind and being hand-held may account for the increased shutter speed. Thanks for sharing specifics - always helpful - |
