Hi Tom - Great tip about the monopod with a gimbal head. I have a 600mm lens that won't work on my tripod because its just too heavy. I just might use that lens more often with that set up . . . Gimbal heads aren't cheap though so I'll have to start saving my pennies :) Thank you - |

Hi Kamal - You took good advantage of that PSA event and have some interesting cultural images to show for it. Camel Polo must require such skill! You were wise to remove people in the background. The camel on the far left is headless and I wish I could see even just it's nose . . . otherwise a wonderful composition. Nice capture!

Hi Karen - I'm glad you thought to pick that 600mm lens up. What a different image you captured over your go to lens. This image might be a good candidate for a sky replacement. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Xiao - The image was selected as a candidate for an exercise to utilize various masks, techniques and tools in Lightroom that I typically haven't used in processing. Lightroom upgraded some features so it was a good excuse to give it a go. Perhaps I could have found a better photograph to start with . . . No need to apologize; thanks for your input. |

Hi Xiao - This image has great impact, showing a bird doing what bird's do! The background is blurred nicely with the rest of the image in good focus telling the story. While the current composition is good, if it were mine, I might crop in a bit tighter so the bird's head wasn't so centered. Great title. Good job! |

Hi Tom - A beautiful capture! Were you in the water? The perspective is awesome, as is the separation of the background from the subject, the splash and the water reflection. The light is lovely. The bat itself is highly defined showing the veining in the wing and definition in the fur. The eye is clearly visible and the whole subject is exceptionally sharp overall. There is a bit of a blown out area in the water lower left that I almost didn't notice. Some might want more leeway in front of the bat - I'm fine with it as is. Nicely done! Great capture! |

Hi Greg - The composition does a good job of bringing all the visual elements together to tell its story - I like the perspective. This vintage vehicle is in the right environment and you can imagine this vehicle's life and purpose. The multi-processed HDR is nicely done as well. The people pushing the stroller provide scale, but to my mind don't do anything to enhance the image. My eye is drawn to the blacks in the glove compartment and beyond the gates in the upper right and wish I could see some detail in them. There is an edge of a window (maybe?) that I can see on the upper right that is a bit of a distraction and I would remove that or crop that sliver out. Perhaps you considered it . . . I think this might do well as a monochrome or as a black/white and would further that Topaz grunge effect. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Ingrid - I find this image quite striking. The cross-hatch patterns (fencing?) adds to the patterns presented in the stairwell, its shadows and the texture in the wall. There is a overall symmetry that is quite appealing. I like it in black and white too. Great capture - can't say I would change a thing. |

Thanks Tom - It took several attempts to get the tool to not bleed the color beyond what I believe I selected. It seemed to work best to zoom in and then make the selection. As easy as that sounds, I am, much to my dismay, not a natural at working in post much beyond basics, so am humbled and reminded not only of how much I have to learn, but also of how much I don't know I don't know. Thanks for the encouraging words. |
