14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Xiao - I see what you mean about the look and feel. I appreciate your observations. Thank you - Mar 21st
14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Ingrid - I appreciate your kind comments and suggestions. I'll continue to work on the image - those clouds didn't seem so dirty in processing . . . and such an easy fix too. Thank you. Mar 21st
14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Kamal - Thank your for your kind comments. Best - Mar 21st
14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Karen - Thanks for your observations and suggestions. I'll give content aware a try and see what that brings to this image - I agree it's a bit tight. As for the leading lines . . . amazingly enough, I hadn't even noticed the fold in the child's shirt being aligned with the plane until you mentioned it. Crazy what's missed sometimes! Mar 21st
14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Greg - Thanks, always fun to try something new. Mar 16th
14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Ingrid - This is probably one of my more favorite from your America @ 75mph series. The choice of B&W, addressing the composition and replacing the sky were all good choices. Further processing in post was thoughtful and well executed. Both your efforts and Tom's work well - it just a matter of artistic preference ... merits to both. Congratulations on your panning technique.

14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Karen - I think this qualifies as an abstract as there is not an immediate association with the physical world. I like the colors and the red creating an "S" and movement drawing my eye up through the image as well as a narrow depth of field providing contrast. The red is offset nicely by the cooler colors. The blues are a bit oversaturated and feel a bit unnatural, but I'm of two minds about how that affects the impact of the image. It's an image that is unexpected and somewhat unrecognizable (if I hadn't read your description) ... I think that succeeds as an abstract. Welcome back! Mar 13th
14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Greg - Mardi Gras is a good excuse for coming together and a good time which is well represented through this image. The colors are brilliant supporting the Mardi Gras theme and the shallow depth of field helps the subjects stand out. Although not completely lost, I would prefer more detail and texture coming through in the blacks - the woman's black hair seems somewhat unnatural as a result. Photographing in harsh artificial light such as this is a challenge for me at best - you've done well with the skin tones. Thanks for sharing. Mar 13th
14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Tom - What a unique and fresh vantage point of this iconic landmark - that's pretty hard to do given how many photographs there are of this area. I particularly like how the sun is peaking through the clouds with a subtle starburst and how the silhouetted background helps to highlight the architecture. Taking this image during the golden hour gave you the beautiful light that makes this image. A few quite minor suggestions would be to crop out a bit of the water off the bottom and to eliminate the boat intersecting the opera house on the right. Overall an awesome landscape. Mar 13th
14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Xiao - I agree with Tom on all points. I enjoy how the background compliments the heron beautifully and the story this image tells. Technically excellent, the bird appears fragile with lovely texture and detail throughout. Nice capture! Mar 13th
14 Mar 23 Comment Hi Kamal - Interesting comments from Lance re posturization. I could only see what he was talking about when looking at the thumbnail. I do think this sunrise image has good impact and color balance bringing a sense of calmness and harmony. A nice water reflection and attractive architecture also adds to the image's appeal. The sun's water reflection seems slightly blown out and if it were mine, I might have taken a little of sky off the top just to move the bottom of the tree line off the horizontal center. All in all a beautifully silhouetted, monochromatic image. Mar 13th
14 Mar 23 Reply Hi Tom - Two very good points. Once March comments are all in, I'll play with the image a bit more. Thanks for your support. Mar 6th
